Naomh Eoin GAA (Sligo)
Naomh Eoin GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Sligo, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. History Located in Sligo, Naomh Eoin GAA Club was founded in 1984. Throughout their existence, the club has been overshadowed by their more successful Sligo town neighbours; firstly by Craobh Rua throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and then by Calry-St Joseph's who won 11 Sligo SHC title from 15 final appearances between 2002 and 2017. On the outskirts of town, the Coolera/Strandhill club also won a Sligo SHC title in 2018. Naomh Eoin were only two years in existence when they appeared in their first county final. Beaten by Tourlestrane on that occasion, the club suffered further county final defeats in 1997 and 2018. The Sligo SHL title was annexed in 1990, before Naomh Eoin won their first Sligo SHC title in 2019 after a defeat of Easkey in the final. 2019 Nicky Rackard Cup
The 2019 Nicky Rackard Cup is the 15th staging of the Nicky Rackard Cup hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 2005. It is the fourth tier of senior inter-county hurling as of 2019. The competition began on Saturday 11 May 2019 and ends on Saturday 22 June 2019. Donegal were the 2018 champions and were promoted to the 2019 Christy Ring Cup as a result of the restructuring of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. Sligo were crowned champions after defeating Armagh in the final. Sligo's victory completed back to back championship triumphs and promotion from the fifth tier to the third by winning the 2018 Lory Meagher Cup and the 2019 Nicky Rackard Cup. The Nicky Rackard Cup (; often referred to as the Rackard Cup) is the fourth tier of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. Each year, the champion team in the Nicky Rackard Cup is promoted to the Christy Ring Cup, and the lowest finishing team is relegated to the Lory Meagher Cup. The Nicky Rackard Cup, which was introduced for the 2005 season, is a recent initiative in providing a meaningful championship for third tier teams deemed "too weak" for any higher grades. The Lory Meagher Cup (; often referred to as the Meagher Cup) is the fifth-highest inter-county senior championship in hurling. Each year, the champion team in the Lory Meagher Cup is promoted to the Nicky Rackard Cup. The Lory Meagher Cup, which was introduced for the 2009 season, provides a meaningful championship for fifth tier teams deemed "too weak" for the fourth tier Nicky Rackard Cup. Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch
Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch (born 1996) is an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer who plays for Sligo Championship clubs Naomh Eoin and St Mary's and at inter-county level with the Sligo senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a forward. Career O'Kelly Lynch first came to prominence as a dual player with the Naomh Eoin and St Mary's clubs in the respective juvenile and underage grades. After progressing onto the adult teams he has won County Senior Championship titles in both codes. O'Kelly-Lynch first appeared on the inter-county scene as a dual player at minor and under-21 levels. He was 17-years-old when he was drafted onto the Sligo senior hurling team in 2013, while he has also lined out with the Sligo senior football team. O'Kelly-Lynch has since won Nicky Rackard Cup and Lory Meagher Cup titles. Sligo Senior Hurling Championship
The Sligo Senior Hurling Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition organised by Sligo GAA among the top hurling clubs in County Sligo. The winner qualifies to represent the county in the Connacht Junior Club Hurling Championship, the winner of which progresses to the All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship. Calry-St Joseph's GAA
Calry-St Joseph's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Calry and the northern ward of Sligo, Éire. The club was formerly known as Calry Gaels until it became Calry-St Joseph's in 1987 after a re-organisation of the GAA structures in the Sligo urban area. They have won the last 7 Sligo Senior Hurling Championships and played in 12 of the last 13 finals, winning in 2005 until 2009 and again from 2011 to 2017 (minus 2010). In 2009 they won the Connacht Junior Club Hurling Championship beating Galway side Skehana 1-09 to 0-10 in the final having lost to them the year before and they repeated that feat again in 2012 by beating the same opposition from before, Skehana.
