Nanyuki Cottage Hospital
Nanyuki Cottage Hospital is a nonprofit hospital in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, Kenya. The hospital has 50 inpatient beds and includes an operating theatre, laboratory, X-ray department and pharmacy. The hospital also offers outpatient services such as antiretroviral therapy, family planning, HIV counselling and testing, and immunisation. The hospital is a private charity and is managed by a committee of volunteers elected by members, who then elect the officers. It is supported by grants and donations, as well as fees paid by those patients who can afford it. Nanyuki
Nanyuki is a Market town in Laikipia County of Kenya lying northwest of Mount Kenya along the A2 road and at the terminus of the branch railway from Nairobi. The name is derived from Enyaanyukie Maasai word for resemblance. It is situated just north of the Equator (0° 01' North). In 1907, British immigrants settled in Nanyuki, some of whose descendants still live in and around the town. Nanyuki is currently the main airfield (airbase) of the Kenya Air Force. The British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK), has a base at Nyati Barracks. It conducts infantry exercises in Laikipia and on Kenyan Ministry of Defense land at Archer's Post. Laikipia County is one of the 47 Counties of Kenya, located on the Equator in the former Rift Valley Province of the Country. Laikipia is a cosmopolitan County and is Listed as County number 31. The Lewa Safari Marathon is an annual fund raising event held at Lewa Downs, about north of Nairobi, Kenya. Most well known for its unique setting Runner's World Magazine included the Lewa Marathon as being, 'One of the top ten races to run in your life'.
