Nanxiguzhai, or 南溪古寨, also known as 金家村 (Jin clan's village), is located within Dongzhi County of Anhui province in China. Dongzhi County
Dongzhi County () is a county in the south of Anhui province, situated on the southeast (right) bank of the Yangtze and bordering Jiangxi province to the south. It is under the jurisdiction of the prefecture-level city of Chizhou and occupies its southwest corner. It has a population of and an area of . The government of Dongzhi County is located in Yaodu Town. In paleontology, it is known for its Hualong Cave from which important human and animal fossils have been discovered, including ''Homo erectus'' (dubbed Dongzhi Man) and a 300,000-year-old archaic human (''Homo sapiens''). Anhui
Anhui , (; formerly romanized as Anhwei) is a landlocked province of the People's Republic of China, part of the East China region. Its provincial capital and largest city is Hefei. The province is located across the basins of the Yangtze River and the Huai River, bordering Jiangsu to the east, Zhejiang to the southeast, Jiangxi to the south, Hubei to the southwest, Henan to the northwest, and Shandong for a short section in the north. Xiongnu
The Xiongnu (, ) were a tribal confederation of nomadic peoples who, according to ancient Chinese sources, inhabited the eastern Eurasian Steppe from the 3rd century BC to the late 1st century AD. Modu Chanyu, the supreme leader after 209 BC, founded the Xiongnu Empire. After their previous rivals, the Yuezhi, migrated west into Central Asia during the 2nd century BC, the Xiongnu became a dominant power on the steppes of East Asia, centred on the Mongolian Plateau. The Xiongnu were also active in areas now part of Siberia, Inner Mongolia, Gansu and Xinjiang. Their relations with adjacent Chinese dynasties to the south-east were complex—alternating between various periods of peace, war, and subjugation. Ultimately, the Xiongnu were defeated by the Han dynasty in a centuries-long conflict, which led to the confederation splitting in two, and forcible resettlement of large numbers of Xiongnu within Han borders.
