Cornwall (; kw, Kernow ) is a historic county and ceremonial county in South West England. It is recognised as one of the Celtic nations, and is the homeland of the Cornish people. Walter Nance
Walter Elmore Nance (born 1933) is Professor and Chair (emeritus) of the Department of Human Genetics of the Virginia Commonwealth University. He is an internationally known expert in hereditary deafness, twin studies and genetic linkage analysis of both continuous and qualitative traits. Biography Nance was born in Manila and spent his childhood in Shanghai, New Orleans, and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. After receiving his M.D. from Harvard Medical School, Nance was assistant professor of medicine at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 1963 to 1969 and professor of medical genetics and medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine from 1969 to 1975. Thomas Andrew Nance (born March 19, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Chicago Cubs. Robert Morton Nance (1873–1959) was a British writer and leading authority on the Cornish language, a nautical archaeologist, and joint founder of the Old Cornwall Society. Nance wrote many books and pamphlets on the Cornish language, including a Cornish dictionary, which is a standard work, and edited magazines and pamphlets about Cornwall, including ''Old Cornwall'', the journal of the Federation of Old Cornwall Societies. Nance was also a nautical archaeologist of distinction and was an originator of the Society for Nautical Research. His insight and learning were displayed in his book ''Sailing-ship Models'' which appeared in 1924. He studied art in Britain and France and was both a painter and a skilled craftsman. Ray Willis Nance (December 10, 1913 – January 28, 1976) was an American jazz trumpeter, violinist and singer. He is best remembered for his long association with Duke Ellington and his orchestra. Early years Nance was the leader of his own band in Chicago from 1932 to 1937. Then, he worked with Earl Hines from 1937 to 1939; and from 1939 to 1940 he worked with Horace Henderson. Ellington tenure Ellington hired Nance to replace trumpeter Cootie Williams, who had joined Benny Goodman, in 1940. Nance's first recorded performance with Ellington was at the Duke Ellington at Fargo, 1940 Live, Fargo, North Dakota ballroom dance. Lynn Sanford Nance (born September 3, 1942) is an American former college basketball coach. He also served as head coach at Iowa State, Central Missouri State, Saint Mary's, Washington, and Southwest Baptist. Early life and education Nance was born in Granby, Missouri, where he graduated from Granby High School. At Southwest Baptist Junior College (now University), Nance was a junior college All-American player before transferring to the University of Washington, where he became an honorable mention all-American. Larry Donnell Nance Sr. (born February 12, 1959) is an American former professional basketball player. A forward from Clemson University, Nance played 13 seasons (1981–1994) in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers. Albinus Roberts Nance (March 30, 1848 – December 7, 1911) was an American politician. He served as a soldier during the American Civil War, and as the fourth governor of Nebraska. Nance was born in La Fayette, Illinois on March 30, 1848.
