Nana Adwoa Awindor
Nana Adwoa Awindor is a Ghanaian television host and the Development Queenmother of Afigya-Kwabre district in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. In 2013, she was elected the First President of the Continental Executive Board of the African Queens and Women Cultural Leaders Network. She is a member of the Ghana National Union of Queenmothers (Women Traditional Leaders). Career NanaHemaa Awindor is the host of First Ghanaian International Link television show ''Greetings From Abroad/Back Home Again'', and the CEO of a production company, Premier Productions. Personal life Awindor is a native of Adum Kwanwoma. She is the mother of singer Efya Jane Awindor (born April 10, 1987), better known by her stage name Efya, is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and actress from Kumasi. Queen mother (also Queenmother) is a term used to describe certain female traditional rulers in African cultures. Though there is no general description of a "queen mother", as their roles have varied by society, political context, and culture, they generally play an important role in local government and "wield social power and influence." They are thus an important part of social, political, and cultural institutions across the African continent: the Akan, for example, recognize them as important local political actors and often trace inheritance through them in a matrilineal fashion; whereas in Uganda, the term may be used to describe women who ruled outright. Afigya Kwabre District is a former district that was located in Ashanti Region, Ghana. It was created from the western portion of Afigya-Sekyere District (now currently known as Sekyere South District) and the western portion of Kwabre District (now currently known as Kwabre East Municipal District) on 1 November 2007 (effectively 29 February 2008). However on 15 March 2018, it was split off into two new districts: Afigya Kwabre South District (capital: Kodie) and Afigya Kwabre North District Afigya Kwabre North District is one of the forty-three districts in Ashanti Region, Ghana. The Ashanti Region is located in southern part of Ghana and it is the third largest of 16 administrative regions, occupying a total land surface of or 10.2 percent of the total land area of Ghana. African Queens And Women Cultural Leaders Network
The African Queens and Women Cultural Leaders Network (AQWCLN) is a voluntary network of female cultural leaders across Africa that seeks to advocate for the advancement and improve the lives of women and girls across the continent. History The AQWCLN was formed in September 2013 when more than forty queens, queenmothers and other female cultural leaders from sixteen different African countries met in Kampala, Uganda, supported by UN Women and the African Union. Jane Awindor (born April 10, 1987), better known by her stage name Efya, is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and actress from Kumasi. She is the daughter of Nana Adwoa Awindor, a filmmaker and celebrity host of the late television show ''Greetings From Abroad''. Efya got her first exposure to fame when she participated in the maiden edition of the ''Stars of the Future'' talent show.
