Name That Tune (UK Gameshow)
''Name That Tune'' is a British television game show that put two contestants against each other to test their knowledge of songs. Originating from the United States on NBC Radio in 1952, the show first aired on the ITV network in 1976. Tom O'Connor was the first presenter before Lionel Blair took over in 1984. History The British version began in 1956. Marion Ryan was the singer in the popular musical quiz '' Spot the Tune'' on Granada Television for seven years, with a total of 209 half-hour programmes. Several stars hosted it, including disc-jockey Pete Murray, Canadian pop singer Jackie Rae, and comedians Ken Platt and Ted Ray. The big band in support was that of Peter Knight and his Orchestra. The contestants had to guess the title of a song after hearing only a small sample. The winner of the most cash must try to name as many £5 tunes as possible within 40 seconds. Harry Salter
Harry Salter (1899 – March 5, 1984) was an American music director and an orchestra conductor for radio and television programs. One of Salter's radio orchestras in the late 1920s had as members Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Gene Krupa and Jack Teagarden. Radio and television Salter led the orchestra for ''Your Unseen Friend'', ''Mr. District Attorney'', ''Honolulu Bound'', ''What's My Name? (radio program), What's My Name?'',Grunwald, Edgar A., Ed. Peter Knight (composer)
Peter Knight (23 June 1917 – 30 July 1985) was an English musical arranger, conductor and composer. Early career Knight was born in Exmouth, Devon, England. He was educated at Sutton High School in Plymouth and (showing an aptitude for music very early) studied piano, harmony and counterpoint privately. His first broadcast was in 1924 at the age of seven, a piano solo on ''Children's Hour'' from the BBC's studio in Plymouth. Before the war he was an active semi-professional musician while working at the Inland Revenue in Torquay, and then in London.Tracey, Sheila. Peter Dickson (presenter)
Peter Dickson is a Northern Irish voice-over artist. He is best known as the brand voice of ''The X Factor'' and ''Britain’s Got Talent'' and also as the voice of television channel E4. His other work includes ''Ireland's Got Talent'', ''The Price Is Right'', ''Family Fortunes'' and ''All Star Mr & Mrs''. Career Dickson was educated at the Belfast Royal Academy in his home city of Belfast, Northern Ireland. He later graduated with a BA Hons degree in psychology from Queens University.
