Nainawaz
Fazel Ahmad Zekrya (Pashto/Dari: ; 1935–1979), known professionally as Nainawaz (Pashto/Dari: ) (or Ustad Nainawaz) was a renowned Afghan artist, poet and composer. He has composed some of the most iconic pieces in Afghan popular music. Background Nainawaz was one of the nine sons of a well known politician, poet, writer Sardar Haji Faiz Muhammad Khan Zikeria from the Barakzai ruling family. He was born in the Yakatoot district of Kabul. Nainwaz attended the elite Lycée Esteqlal in Kabul. In his early teens, he taught himself how to play the accordion. He also wrote poems and composed melodies. His adopted stage name "Nainawaz" means Ney (an End-blown flute) player in Persian. Nainwaz graduated from Kabul University, Law and Political Faculty. Sarban (singer)
Abdul-Rahim Sārbān' (Persian: ) (1930 – April 2, 1993), known as Sarban, was an Afghan singer who was born in Kabul. He was the first Afghan artist to break away from the prevalent musical forms in Afghanistan at the time, the Indian inspired pure classical tradition (epitomized by Ustad Sarahang, Rahim Bakhsh), and the 'Mohali' (regional & folk) musical traditions exemplified by the Dari music, logari, qataghani, qarsak. Sarban's music fused elements, rhythms and orchestration of the western musical traditions of Jazz and "Belle Chanson" with the prevalent Afghan musical tradition to create a unique style which became an inspiration for ensuing artists. Ahmad Zahir (Dari/Pashto: ; 14 June 1946 – 14 June 1979) was an Afghan singer, songwriter and composer. Dubbed the "Elvis of Afghanistan", he is widely considered the all-time greatest singer of Afghanistan. Sardar Haji Faiz Muhammad Khan Zikeria
Faiz Muhammad Zikria (1892 – 1979) was an Afghan politician. He was the counselor of Foreign Service in 1921 and was also acting Minister of Education from 1923 to 1924 became Minister for Education 1924 to 1927. He was later Minister for Foreign Affairs 1929–1938, became Ambassador to Turkey from 1938–1948, Ambassador at the court of St James's 1949–1950 and to Saudi Arabia 1955–1960. Khalq
Khalq ( ps, خلق, ) was a faction of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA). Its historical ''de facto'' leaders were Nur Muhammad Taraki (1967–1979), Hafizullah Amin (1979) and Sayed Mohammad Gulabzoy (1979–1990). It was also the name of the leftist newspaper produced by the same movement.
