Nagnath Naikwadi
Nagnath Naikwadi (1922–2012), popularly known as Krantiveer Nagnath anna, was an Indian independence activist, social worker, politician and educationist, known for his revolutionary activism during the Indian independence struggle. He was an associate of Nana Patil during the Quit India movement and together they established ''Prati Sarkar'', a parallel government, in Satara-Sangli region of Maharashtra and indulged in armed struggle against the British. After the Indian independence, he was involved in electoral politics and was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, representing Sangli. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 2009, for his contributions to Indian society. Walwa, Sangli
Walwa(Waḷwa) is a town and a taluka in Sangli district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is also known as Walwa-Islampur Taluka. There are ninety-five panchayat villages in Walwa Taluka. It is 200 km from Pune and 340 km from Mumbai. Before independence Walawa was known for its "Pratisarkar movement". There were plenty of freedom fighters like Krantishigh Nana Patil, Vinayakrao Thorat, Nagnath Naikwadi, Rajarambapu Patil Hutatama kisan ahir and more whose native villages were in Walawa Subdivision. The Krishna River passes through the taluka. The major crops produced in the taluka are sugarcane and grapes. The major occupations are Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. 2004 Lok Sabha Elections
General elections were held in India in four phases between 20 April and 10 May 2004. Over 670 million people were eligible to vote, electing 543 members of the 14th Lok Sabha. Seven states also held assembly elections to elect state governments. They were the first elections fully carried out with electronic voting machines. On 13 May the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the lead party of the National Democratic Alliance conceded defeat. Bandra
Bandra (Indian English, [bæːɳɖɾa]) also known as Vandre (Help:IPA/Marathi, [ʋaːn̪d̪ɾe]) is an upscale coastal suburb located in Mumbai (Bombay) area of the Konkan division, Maharashtra, India. The suburb is located to the immediate north of River Mithi, which separates Bandra from Mumbai City district. Originally, Bandra was a larger area, whence the present day Khar, Mumbai, Khar neighbourhood was also a part of it. Almost a century ago, it was considered too large a suburb to be served by one railway station.
