Nagaland University
Nagaland University is a Central University established in the state of Nagaland by an Act of Parliament by the Government of India in 1989. It is headquartered at Lumami, Zünheboto District. Two other permanent campuses are located at Meriema (near Kohima) and Medziphema. Also there is a temporary campus in Dimapur where B.Tech courses are offered. Altogether 68 colleges are affiliated to the university with a total student population of around 24,000. Zünheboto District
Zünheboto District (Pron:/ˌzʌnˈhiːbəʊtəʊ/) is a district in the Indian state of Nagaland. Sümi Nagas are indigenous to this district. History Zünheboto district came into existence on 19 December 1973. Geography It is bordered by Mokokchung District on the north, Tuensang District on the northeast, Kiphire District to the east, Phek District in the south, Kohima District and Tseminyü District to the southwest and Wokha District to the west. The headquarters is located at Zünheboto. A hilly place, Zünheboto is covered by evergreen forests and surrounded by small streams and rivers. It is home to ''Satoi Range'', surrounded by 10 villages of Satakha sub-division, which is one of the paradise for ornithologists and bird-watchers. National Institutional Ranking Framework
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Education (India), Ministry of Education, Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. The Framework was approved by the MHRD and launched by Minister of Human Resource Development on 29 September 2015. Depending on their areas of operation, institutions have been ranked under 11 different categories – overall, university, colleges, engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medical, architecture, dental and research. The Framework uses several parameters for ranking purposes like resources, research, and stakeholder perception. These parameters have been grouped into five clusters and these clusters were assigned certain weightages. The weightages depend on the type of institution. Dimapur
Dimapur () is the largest city in the Indian state of Nagaland. As of 2011, the municipality had a population of 122,834. The city is the main gateway and commercial centre of Nagaland. Located near the border with Assam along the banks of the Dhansiri River. Its main railway station is the second busiest station in Northeast India. Etymology The name Dimapur is derived from the Dimasa words; ''Di'' means "water", ''ma'' means "large" and ''pur'' (sanskrit word) means "city", translating to "Big-river-city", associated with the meaning of "Kachari" which is "people of the river valley" and after the river which flows through it (Dhansiri). Medziphema
Medziphema is a town and sub-division located in Chümoukedima District of Nagaland state of India. Medziphema Town and Medziphema Village are situated few kilometers apart, the village stands on a hill top to the north of the near-valley Town. It is located 44 km from the Capital City of Kohima, 20 km from Chümoukedima and 33 km from Dimapur. The National Highway 29 runs through the Town area. Geography Medziphema spreads over a very wide beautiful landscape and its altitude is about 360 m above the sea level. It is neither a hill nor a valley and it gently slope down towards the southern region from the north-eastern side of the town.
