Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee
The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) is the unit of the Indian National Congress for the state of Nagaland, India. Its head office is situated in Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland. The present President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee is S. Supongmeren Jamir who replaced Kewekhape Therie on 31 March 2023. It is responsible for organizing and coordinating the party's activities and campaigns within the state, as well as selecting candidates for local, state, and national elections. The current president of the NPCC is S. Supongmeren Jamir. The committee has a relatively smaller presence in Nagaland's politics compared to other states, and it has faced challenges in recent years, including a decline in electoral support and intra-party conflicts. Congress Working Committee
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) is the executive committee of the Indian National Congress. It was formed in December 1920 at Nagpur session of INC which was headed by C. Vijayaraghavachariar. It typically consists of fifteen members elected from the All India Congress Committee. It is headed by the Working President. The Working Committee has had different levels of power in the party at different times. In the period prior to Indian independence in 1947, the Working Committee was the centre of power, and the Working President was frequently more active than the Congress President. 2018 Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election
The Nagaland Legislative Assembly election, 2018 was held on 27 February 2018 in 59 out of 60 constituencies of the Legislative Assembly of Nagaland. The scheduled election in Northern Angami II constituency did not take place as only incumbent MLA Neiphiu Rio was nominated and was therefore declared elected unopposed. The counting of votes took place on 3 March 2018. Background The tenure of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly ended on 13 March 2018. Elections to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly were held in February 1998 to elect members of the 60 constituencies in Nagaland, India. The Indian National Congress won a majority of the seats and S. C. Jamir was re-appointed as the Chief Minister of Nagaland. The number of constituencies was set as 60 by the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission of India. Regional parties like the Naga People's Front did not contest these elections, and they were joined by the Bharatiya Janata Party in this action. In 43 of the constituencies, the INC candidate was the sole candidate and hence was declared the winner without a poll.
