1982 Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election
Elections to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly were held in November 1982 to elect members of the 60 constituencies in Nagaland, India. The United Democratic Front—Progressive alliance, led by the Indian National Congress won the most seats and S. C. Jamir was appointed as the Chief Minister of Nagaland for his second term. The number of constituencies was set as 60 by the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission of India. Nagaland Legislative Assembly
Nagaland Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Nagaland. Nagaland became a state of India on 1 December 1963 and after election in January 1964, the first Nagaland Legislative Assembly was formed on 11 February 1964. In 1974, the strength of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly was increased to the present strength of 60 members.Nagaland
legislativebodiesinindia.nic.in. There is no nominated member in the House, all the members are elected on the basis of adult franchise from single-seat constituencies. The normal tenure of the House is five years unless dissolved sooner. The seat of the Legislative Assembly is , the capital of Nagaland.

Vizadel Sakhrie
Vizadel Sakhrie Hibo (25 April 1943 – 31 March 1995) was an Indian politician and a medical specialist from Nagaland. He was first elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from Southern Angami II Assembly constituency in 1982 as an independent candidate. Sakhrie then joined the Indian National Congress after which he served as the Minister for Medical and Health & Family Welfare. Early life and education Vizadel Sakhrie was born on 25 April 1943 to Puhokhwel Sakhrie and his wife Vichosale. He passed matriculation from Kohima Government High School in 1960 and went on to study science at Kohima Science College, where he was among the school's first batch of 21 students to pass the pre-university class in 1961. During this time of his youth, Sakhrie also actively involved himself in student activities and served as the first President of Viswema Students' Union from 1963 to 1965.
