Nadim Asfar
Nadim Asfar (born in 1976 in Beirut, Lebanon) is a French-Lebanese photographer and filmmaker. He currently lives and works between Paris and Beirut. He studied cinematography at the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts ALBA Beirut and then photography at the École Nationale Supérieure Louis Lumière (Paris) before engaging in the theory of arts and languages at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales. Work The artistic approach of Nadim Asfar is strongly influenced by the numerous questions raised by the language and technique of photography. His photographs and films attempt to capture his relationship to the outside world. Interrogating the relationships between apparatus, body and space, he produces works that explore time and space, whether in the interior, intimate realm of the house or in the wide expanses of natural landscapes. Photogram
A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light. The usual result is a negative shadow image that shows variations in tone that depends upon the transparency of the objects used. Areas of the paper that have received no light appear white; those exposed for a shorter time or through transparent or semi-transparent objects appear grey, while fully exposed areas are black in the final print. The technique is sometimes called cameraless photography. It was used by Man Ray in his exploration of rayographs. An artist is a person engaged in an activity related to creating art, practicing the arts, or demonstrating an art. The Sursock Museum ( ar, قصر سرسق), which is officially known as the Nicolas Ibrahim Sursock Museum, is a modern art and contemporary art museum in Beirut, Lebanon. History In 1912, the wealthy and prominent Lebanese aristocrat Nicolas Ibrahim Sursock built the private villa that now houses the museum.
