Nacional (newspaper)
''Nacional'' was a Serbian daily newspaper published in Belgrade from 2001 until 2003. Owned by the NIP Info Orfej publishing company whose general manager Milorad Antonić previously made a profit on the Belgrade-based ''Ekskluziv'' magazine and Bijeljina-based ''Ekstra magazin'', ''Nacionals first issue appeared on 4 December 2001. Published in the ambitious initial circulation of 60,000 copies, the paper managed to establish itself fairly quickly on the market. With its semi-tabloid content format, the paper's chief editor was Predrag Popović while Dragan J. Vučićević was his deputy. Svetomir Marjanović, another prominent journalist on the Serbian daily tabloid scene was a feature editor. ''Nacional'' was published under the mantra 'Dnevni list Srbije' (Serbia's daily). Dragan Maršićanin
Dragan Maršićanin ( sr-Cyrl, Драган Маршићанин; born 26 January 1950) is a Serbian economist and politician. He was the ambassador of Serbia to Switzerland from 2004 to 2009. He served as the Minister of Economy in 2004, only to leave it in order to run for president in 2004. He later resigned from the position and was replaced by Predrag Bubalo in October, 2004. In the 2004 Serbian presidential election Maršićanin finished 4th with 13.3% of the vote. He has been President of the National Assembly of Serbia in 2001 and in 2004, and the interim acting President of Serbia between 4 February and 3 March 2004. Maršićanin graduated from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Economics. A state of emergency is a situation in which a government is empowered to be able to put through policies that it would normally not be permitted to do, for the safety and protection of its citizens. Čedomir Jovanović
Čedomir "Čeda" Jovanović ( sr-cyr, Чедомир "Чеда" Јовановић, ; born 13 April 1971) is a Serbian politician and businessman. During the presidency of Slobodan Milošević in Yugoslavia, Jovanović became one of the student leaders of the 1996–1997 protests in Serbia at the age of 25. Jovanović along with fellow student Čedomir Antić were one of the founding members of the "Student Political Club", abbreviated in Serbian as SPK, which successfully organized a massive boycott of the 1997 Serbian general election. In February 1998, the bulk of the SPK membership along with Jovanović himself joined the Democratic Party. After the overthrow of Slobodan Milošević, Jovanović was selected by the Democratic Opposition of Serbia to be one of its MPs, and he subsequently became the youngest parliamentary caucus leader in Serbian history, at the age of 29. The Zemun Clan (Serbian Cyrillic: Земунски клан) is one of the Belgrade clans of the Serbian mafia. It is named for the gang's base in Zemun, a municipality of Belgrade. The peak of the clan's power and influence occurred between 1999 and 2003 and they were considered to be one of the most powerful organisations in Southeast Europe. ''Vreme'' ( Serbian for ''Time'') is a weekly news magazine based in Belgrade, Serbia. History Launch In 1990, dissatisfied with the media climate in SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia's largest constituent unit, a group of liberal Serbian intellectuals, including prominent lawyer Srđa Popović, decided to start a weekly newsmagazine. Bogdan Tirnanić ( Serbian Cyrillic: ''Богдан Тирнанић'') (September 14, 1941 – January 16, 2009) was one of the most prominent Serbian journalists, essayists and movie critics. He was born in Belgrade, Serbia. He wrote columns for some of the most popular newspapers in the SFR Yugoslavia and Serbia, including ''Politika'', '' Borba'', '' NIN'', ''Dnevni telegraf'' etc. He was awarded some of the most important awards in Yugoslav and Serbian journalism, such as Croatian ''Veselko Tenžera'' award. Along with Igor Mandić, he was one of the leading journalists in Yugoslavia.
