Nachural Records
Nachural Records is a British bhangra record label based in Birmingham, West Midlands, England. It was formed in 1991 by Ninder Johal, tabla-player for the group Achanak. Throughout the 1990s, Nachural became a leading label for contemporary UK-based bhangra, releasing music from Anakhi, Johnny Zee, TSB Golden Star, and Johal's Achanak. In 2003, Nachural scored their biggest hit as the Panjabi MC remix of "Mundian To Bach Ke", a bhangra song performed by Punjabi artist Labh Janjua, broke into the UK Singles Chart at number 5. Bhangra (music)
Bhangra () is a type of non-traditional music of Punjab originating in the Southall area of United Kingdom. It is a type of upbeat popular music associated with the Punjabi diaspora in Britain. The style has its origins in the folk music of Punjab as well as western pop music of the 1970s and 1980s. Prior to this musical fusion, Bhangra existed only as a dance form in the native Punjab. This British music was unique in that it was not traditional nor did it seek any authenticity. While the traditional folk music of Punjab has a set of melodies that are used by various singers, Bhangra was a form of strict "band culture" in that new melodies were composed for each song. Johnny Zee
Tarsame Singh Saini (23 May 1967 – 29 April 2022), also known as Taz Stereo Nation and previously Johnny Zee, was a British singer, composer and actor of Indian descent. He was the lead singer of the pop band Stereo Nation which was formed in 1996. He was credited with being the pioneer of cross-cultural Asian fusion music. Tarsame Singh Saini died on 29 April 2022, at the age of 54, following a two-year battle with liver cirrhosis. Labh Janjua (1957 – 22 October 2015) was an Indian bhangra vocalist and songwriter, best known for his bhangra and hip hop songs, such as "Bair Bura Hunda Jatt da", "Jatt Di Nazar Buri", "Goli Jatt Ne Katcheri'ch Chaloni ", "Jatt Marda", "Soni De Nakhre Sone lagde" (movie ''Partner'') and "Mundian To Bach Ke", which was produced by Panjabi MC in 1998, and re-released in 2002. Tigerstyle is a Scottish folkhop group from Glasgow with a British Punjabi background.
