Nabiganj
Nabiganj ( bn, নবীগঞ্জ, Nobīgonj) is an Upazila of Habiganj District in the Division of Sylhet, Bangladesh. History After the Conquest of Gour in 1303, many disciples of Shah Jalal migrated and settled in present-day Nabiganj where they preached Islam to the local people. Shah Sikandar migrated to Paschimgaon (Sikandarpur), Hafiz Muhammad Zakariyyah Arabi to Pithua, Shah Sadruddin Qurayshi to Parbatpur (Sadrabad) and Qazi Tajuddin Qurayshi to Chouki. In the late 17th century, Inathganj Bazar was founded. Inathganj became a centre for the Asian Jute trade. The current Inathganj High School was originally a jute warehouse. Many ships would crowd in the banks of Inathganj Bazar, and go to many corners of the world, and evidence of this remains at the present-day high school. Geography Nabiganj is located at . Habiganj District
Habiganj ( bn, হবিগঞ্জ, Hobigonj), formerly known as Habibganj ( bn, হবিবগঞ্জ, Hobibgonj), is a district in north-eastern Bangladesh, located in the Sylhet Division. It was established as a district in 1984 as a successor to its ''subdivision'' status since 1867. It is named after its headquarters, the town of Habiganj. History Ancient Prehistoric settlements were said to have been discovered in the Chaklapunji tea garden, near Chandirmazar of Chunarughat. Habiganj has also revealed a significant number of prehistoric tools from the bed of Balu Stream, a small ephemeral stream (water remains here only for a few hours after rainfall). Angularity and freshness of the fossil wood artifacts suggest that they did not come from a great distance and probably came from nearby hillocks. Abdul Momin Imambari
Abdul Momin Shaykh-e-Imambari ( bn, আব্দুল মোমিন শায়খে ইমামবাড়ী; 1930 – 8 April 2020) was a Bangladeshi Islamic scholar, teacher and politician. He was a former president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh. Early life and education Abdul Momin was born in 1930, to a Bengali Muslim parents Muhammad Abdus Sattar and Gulbahar Bibi in the village of Purangaon in Nabiganj, Habiganj subdivision (then located under the Sylhet district). He studied at the Jāmiʿah Saʿdiyyah Raidhar and Jāmiʿah Islāmiyyah Imambari madrasas, before setting out to Hindustan where he enrolled at the Darul Uloom Deoband seminary. He studied in Deoband for six years, graduating from the faculty of Hadith studies. Among his teachers there were Hussain Ahmed Madani, Ibrahim Baliyavi, Syed Fakhrul Hasan and Merajul Haq. Dewan Farid Gazi ( bn, দেওয়ান ফরিদ গাজী; 1 March 1924– 19 November 2010) was a Bangladeshi politician born in Devpara, Nabiganj Upazila, Sylhet. He was elected as Member of Parliament for the Habiganj-1 (Nabigonj-Bahubal) constituency in 1996, 2001 and 2008, representing the Awami League, of which he was an Advisory Council member. Foysol Hussain Choudhury, MBE ( bn, ফয়ছল হোসেন চৌধূরী; born 5 January 1969) is a Bangladeshi-born British businessman, and a Scottish Labour politician.
