NW Fusion Dance Company
NW Fusion Dance Company is a pre-professional dance company based in Tigard, Oregon, United States. The company was founded in 2008 by former Broadway performer Brad Hampton, who has served as Artistic Director since the company's inception. The company has sixteen full-time members, comprising a group of advanced teen dancers who have undergone a rigorous audition process. Dancers audition in the summer and those accepted into the Company commit to perform with NW Fusion for one year. Jazz Dance
Jazz dance is a performance dance and style that arose in the United States in the mid 20th century. Jazz dance may allude to vernacular jazz about to Broadway or dramatic jazz. The two types expand on African American vernacular styles of dance that arose with jazz music. Vernacular jazz dance incorporates ragtime moves, Charleston, Lindy hop and mambo. José Limón
José Arcadio Limón (January 12, 1908 – December 2, 1972) was a dancer and choreographer from Mexico and who developed what is now known as 'Limón technique'. In the 1940s, he founded the José Limón Dance Company (now the Limón Dance Company), and in 1968 he created the José Limón Foundation to carry on his work. In his choreography, Limón spoke to the complexities of human life as experienced through the body. His dances feature large, visceral gestures — reaching, bending, pulling, grasping — to communicate emotion.
