NU107 Rock Awards
The NU Rock Awards was an annual accolade presented from 1994 to 2010 by the Metro Manila-based radio station NU 107, known for prominent performances by the most influential pinoy rock artists of each year. History The first NU 107 Rock Awards was held at The Music Hall in Annapolis St., Greenhills on November 15, 1994. Originally meant to be a small gathering to give recognition to the rock community, it slowly became a much anticipated annual event. Pepe Smith won the Rock Legend Award. and the Dawn won the Rock Achievement Award. The first "Song of the Year Award" was given to Alamid for "Your Love". The song went on to heavy airplay and was the first NU 107 exclusive to cross over to other formats. Afterimage was very first winner of the Artist of the Year award. The first Album of the Year award was presented to the Eraserheads' first album ''Ultraelectromagneticpop!''. Cynthia Alexander
Cynthia Alexander (b. ''Cynthia Veronica Ayala'', 1971) is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from the Philippines. She has performed on local and international stages including the Rainforest World Music Festival in Malaysia, the ''Jack Daniel's World Music Tour'' in Singapore and the ''Southeast Asian Night Market Festival'' in New Zealand. She also played gongs and electric bass in foreign engagements (India, U.S., Japan, Canada) with Joey Ayala at ang Bagong Lumad. As an indie artist, she has released four albums, and is involved in a wide variety of music projects. She composed the eclectic musical score for the Ballet Philippines production, "Wagas", for which she fused electronic, industrial, indigenous, contemporary and pop elements into a cohesive work. Wolfgang (band)
Wolfgang is a Filipino rock band formed in January 1992 in Manila. The group is notable for being the only Filipino rock band to release albums in both Japan and the United States and for realizing Platinum record sales in their home country. After ten years, the original lineup split in 2002. Wolfgang reformed in 2007 with a new drummer. Tanya Markova is a Filipino rock band formed in the indie scene in 2006 and went mainstream in 2010. The band is currently composed of Harlon Agsaoay, Gel del Pilar, Pipoy Alejandro, Rhan Sabas, Kix Chavez, Ole Romblon, Japo Anareta, and Levi Arago. The band is recognizable due to their makeup and costumes, with each member having an onstage persona. Hilera
Hilera is a Filipino rock band formed in December 2004. Originally a three-piece band, it currently consists of Chris Padilla, Bobby Padilla, Luke Xavier Bayhon and JC Tayag. Formation In February 2004, bandmates Chris Padilla and Ivan Garcia decided to form their own three-piece band. After months of searching, Padilla's brother Bobby was showing potential with his drumming skills. They decided to move forward with their lineup, and in December 2004 Hilera was officially formed. The band joined the Nescafe Soundskool Battle of the Bands in 2005. Up Dharma Down
UDD, shortened for Up Dharma Down, is a Filipino band formed in Manila in 2004. They have released four albums '' Fragmented'', '' Bipolar'', '' Capacities'' and ''U D D released under independent record label Terno Recordings. In 2005, the band won the coveted ''In the Raw'' Award at the NU 107 Rock Awards as well as ''Best New Artist'' and ''Best Female Award'' for vocalist and keyboardist, Armi Millare, in 2006. Pedicab (band)
Pedicab is a Filipino electronic rock group based in Manila formed in 2004. History Pedicab is composed of Diego Mapa ("Daddy Maps") on lead vocals and synths, Raimund Marasigan ("Sugar Raims") on synth bass and percussion, Mike Dizon ("Masterbeat") on drums and percussion, Jason Caballa ("J.Sonic") on guitar, and RA Rivera ("Just Toni") on synths, sampler, and percussion. Orange and Lemons is a Filipino pop rock band founded and formed in 1999 by lead vocalist and guitarist Clem Castro along with Ace and JM del Mundo. Sugarfree (band)
Sugarfree is a Filipino rock band currently composed of Jal Taguibao on vocals and bass guitar, and Kaka Quisimbing on drums. Former notable members include chief songwriter and frontman Ebe Dancel on vocals and guitars, and Mitch Singson on drums. Slapshock was a Filipino heavy metal band from Metro Manila. They were formed in 1997, originally as a nu metal act, with their early musical style compared to that of Korn. Put3ska was a Filipino ska band formed in 1993. The band's name is word play, combining the Filipino phrase, ''putres ka'' ("damn you") and "ska".
