The 2022 NME Awards, also named BandLab NME Awards 2022, were held on 2 March 2022 at the O2 Academy Brixton in London and were hosted by actress Daisy May Cooper and rapper Lady Leshurr. The nominations were announced on 27 January 2022. Brixton Academy
Brixton Academy (originally known as the Astoria Variety Cinema, previously known as Carling Academy Brixton, currently named O2 Academy Brixton as part of a sponsorship deal with the O2 brand) is a mid-sized concert venue located in South West London, in the Lambeth district of Brixton. Opening in 1929 as a cinema, the venue was converted into a discotheque in 1972, then reborn as a concert hall in 1983. It is owned by the Academy Music Group, and has become one of London's leading music venues, hosting over 50 live albums, and winning the NME Best Venue 12 times since 1994. Tahliah Debrett Barnett (born 17 January 1988), known professionally as FKA Twigs (stylized as FKA twigs), is an English singer, songwriter, and dancer. Born and raised in Cheltenham, she became a backup dancer for numerous famous musicians after moving to London at the age of 17, and made her own musical debut with '' EP1'' (2012). Rebecca Lucy Taylor (born 15 October 1986), also known by her stage name as Self Esteem, is an English singer-songwriter and actress. The inspiration for her stage name comes from the evolution of Taylor's confidence from her early 20s. Early life Taylor was born in Rotherham, England. Her father was a steelworker, and her mother was a secretary. Career Taylor was previously a member of folk duo Slow Club, which formed in Sheffield in 2006. Justin Clarke, better known by his stage name Ghetts (formerly Ghetto), is a British grime MC, rapper and songwriter. His music has been played on national radio stations such as BBC Radio 1, Kiss 100, BBC Asian Network, and BBC Radio 1Xtra. Kofi Owusu-Ansah (born 1998 Ghana), known by his stage name Genesis Owusu, is a Ghanaian-Australian singer from Canberra.
