NCAA Season 79 Basketball Tournaments
The basketball tournaments of NCAA Season 79 are the Philippines' National Collegiate Athletic Association tournaments for basketball in its 2003–2004 season. San Sebastian College – Recoletos hosted the season, starting with an opening ceremony held at the Araneta Coliseum on June 28, 2003, followed by four games. Former Philippine Basketball Association chairman, Shell executive, and San Sebastian alumnus Rey Gamboa graced as the guest of honor. Basketball Association of the Philippines secretary-general Graham Lim served as the season's commissioner. The theme of the season is "NCAA at 79: A Family Through Time." Games then are subsequently held at Rizal Memorial Coliseum and covered by ABS-CBN Sports via Studio 23. Rizal Memorial Coliseum
The Rizal Memorial Coliseum is an indoor arena in the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila, Philippines. Its capacity is 6,100. History The Rizal Memorial Coliseum within the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex was built on the former site of Manila Carnival Grounds in 1934 as a tennis stadium named "Rizal Memorial Tennis Stadium", but was later renamed “Rizal Memorial Coliseum” at an unknown time. It became a primary venue for the UAAP and the NCAA, before moving to much-larger venues such as the Araneta Coliseum. It was one of the buildings that were destroyed during the Battle of Manila of World War II in 1945 and was reconstructed in 1953 for the 1954 Asian Games. In sports, a winning percentage is the fraction of games or matches a team or individual has won. The statistic is commonly used in standings or rankings to compare teams or individuals. It is defined as wins divided by the total number of matches played (i.e. wins plus draws plus losses). San Sebastian–Letran Rivalry
This rivalry is between Recto's San Sebastian and Muralla's Letran. The rivalry is played at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines). The Knights became the first 4th seed to upset the 1st seed in the Final Four when they defeated the Stags twice during the 1999 NCAA Final Four. Boyet Bautista is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Pasig Pirates of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), and for the Armed Forces of the Philippines Cavaliers of the UNTV Cup. Bautista played high school and collegiate basketball for the Knights of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran.
