N. Vithyatharan
Nadesapillai Vithyatharan (born 1959) is a Sri Lankan journalist. He is the editor of Uthayan and Sudar Oli. He has been arrested, threatened, abducted by Sri Lankan Government and backed paramilitary for his newspapers independent reporting. Uthayan has run despite severe difficulties. Biography Vithyatharan was born in Jaffna and was student of Jaffna Hindu College and studied law in Colombo but had to discontinue it after the 1983 Black July riots and returned to Jaffna. He took up journalism and has been the working in the Uthayan in 1985 since its inception. Jaffna
Jaffna (, ) is the capital city of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. It is the administrative headquarters of the Jaffna District located on a peninsula of the same name. ''Sudar Oli'' ( ta, சுடர் ஒளி Cuṭar Oḷi) is a Tamil language Sri Lankan daily newspaper published by Mass Media Syndicate (Private) Limited, part of the Uthayan Group of Newspapers. It was founded in 2000 and is published from Colombo. Its sister newspaper is the Jaffna based ''Uthayan''. The newspaper has been attacked several times, a number of its staff have been murdered by paramilitary groups and other forces, and it regularly receives threats. Jaffna Hindu College ( ta, யாழ்ப்பாணம் இந்துக் கல்லூரி, translit=Yāḻppāṇam Intuk Kallūri; si, යාපනය හින්දු විද්යාලය, translit=Yāpanaya Hindu Vidyālaya; abbreviated as JHC) is a national school in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Black July ( ta, கறுப்பு யூலை, translit=Kaṟuppu Yūlai; si, කළු ජූලිය, Kalu Juliya) was an anti-Tamil pogrom that occurred in Sri Lanka during July 1983. The pogrom was premeditated,T.
