N.Y.H.C. (film)
''N.Y.H.C.'' is a documentary film directed by Frank Pavich about the mid-1990s New York hardcore scene. Filmed in mid-1995, it was completed and self-released on VHS by Pavich in 1999. The documentary was acquired for distribution by HALO 8 Entertainment in December 2007. On March 25, 2008, Halo-8 released a two-disc special edition for the documentary's first time on DVD. Disc 2 features previously unreleased footage including "Where Are They Now?" interviews shot ten years after the original documentary, live performances of complete songs by Vision of Disorder, Madball, 25 ta Life, 108, No Redeeming Social Value, District 9, and more, as well as new interviews with Lou Koller (Sick of It All) and Toby Morse ( H2O). Frank Pavich
Frank Pavich ( ) is a Croatian-American film director and producer. Career Pavich's first film as director was ''N.Y.H.C. (film), N.Y.H.C.'', a feature-length documentary about the New York hardcore music scene. The film was shot in the summer of 1995 and was released on VHS in 1999. In 2008, HALO 8 Entertainment, Halo 8 Entertainment released it as part of a special edition two-DVD set. In 2003, Pavich co-produced the satirical comedy film ''Die, Mommie, Die!''. From 2011 to 2013, Pavich directed his second documentary, ''Jodorowsky's Dune''. The film premiered in the Director's Fortnight section of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, and went on to play at many other festivals, including the Telluride Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival. Freddy Cricien (born November 4, 1975), also known as Freddy Madball, is an American vocalist, primarily known as the lead singer of the New York hardcore band Madball. He is also the lead singer of Hazen Street and has a hip hop career from which debut album was November 2009's ''Catholic Guilt''. He also moonlights as an MC with DJ Stress as the hip hop duo Freddy Madball & DJ Stress. Biography Early life Cricien was born in Passaic, New Jersey on November 4, 1975. New York Underground Film Festival
The New York Underground Film Festival was an annual event that occurred each March at Anthology Film Archives in New York City from 1994 through 2008 founded by filmmakers Todd Phillips ('' Road Trip'', '' Old School'') and Andrew Gurland. After Phillips and Gurland turned the festival over to programmer Ed Halter, it became noted for documentary and experimental film programming, and occasionally courted controversy, particularly in its early years. Vic DiCara is a krishnacore guitarist, vocalist and bass guitarist. He played in Beyond, Inside Out, Shelter, Burn, and later the Hare Krishna band 108. As part of the band 108, DiCara was instrumental in recording three albums considered influential in the hardcore punk scene of the 1990s. Cro-Mags are an American hardcore punk band from New York City. The band, which has a strong cult following, has released six studio albums, with the first two considered the most influential. With a Hare Krishna background, they were among the first bands to fuse hardcore punk with thrash metal. Cro-Mags have gone through many line-up changes since the band's beginnings.
