Lisa Nicole Lopes (May 27, 1971 – April 25, 2002), better known by her stage name Left Eye, was an American rapper and singer. She was a member of the R&B girl group TLC, alongside Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. Besides rapping and singing backing vocals on TLC recordings, Lopes was one of the creative forces behind the group, receiving more co-writing credits than the other members. She also designed the outfits and staging for the group and contributed to the group's image, album titles, artworks, and music videos. Through her work with TLC, Lopes won four Grammy Awards. During her brief solo career, Lopes scored two US top 10 singles with " Not Tonight" and "U Know What's Up", as well as one UK number-one single with "Never Be the Same Again", the latter a collaboration with Melanie C of the British girl group Spice Girls. Death Row Records is an American record label that was founded in 1991 by The D.O.C., Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, and Dick Griffey. The label became a sensation by releasing multi-platinum hip-hop albums by West Coast-based artists such as Dr. Dre (''The Chronic''), Snoop Dogg (''Doggystyle'', ''Tha Doggfather''), Tha Dogg Pound (''Dogg Food''), and 2Pac (''All Eyez on Me'', The Don Killuminati: 7 Day Theory) during the 1990s. ''Supernova'' is the debut studio album by Lisa Lopes of TLC and is the only one released in her lifetime, prior to her traffic collision-related death in 2002. Album information The album's original titles were "Fantasy1.com" and "A New Star is Born", but were eventually changed to "Supernova". The release date for the album was August 16, 2001, the day of her father's birthday, as well as her grandfather's death. This is alluded to in the lyrics of the song "A New Star Is Born". Blaque is an American girl group that charted from 1999 to 2004. Outside of the United States, they are known as Blaque Ivory. Their self-titled debut album ''Blaque'' sold more than 1 million copies and was certified Platinum.
