Dipentylone
Dipentylone (also known as Dimethylpentylone) is a substituted cathinone derivative with stimulant effects, which has been sold as a designer drug, first detected in Sweden in 2014. N,N-DiMethylPentylone was first identified in toxicology samples in the USA in late 2021 and has been tracked by The Center for Forensic Science Research and Education (CFSRE) as an increasing common drug mismarketed as MDMA where Eutylone was previously commonly mismarketed as MDMA. Dimethylpentylone is not specifically listed in the United States Controlled Substance Act but would likely be considered illegal as a positional isomer of N-Ethylpentylone which is a schedule 1 substance in the United States and defined as "all isomers" within that definition. Pentylone
Pentylone (β-Keto-Methylbenzodioxolylpentanamine, βk-Methyl-K, βk-MBDP, methylenedioxypentedrone, or 1‐(3,4‐methylenedioxyphenyl)‐2‐(methylamino)pentan‐1‐one) is a stimulant developed in the 1960s. It is a substituted cathinone (a type of substituted phenethylamine). It has been identified in some samples of powders sold as "NRG-1", along with varying blends of other cathinone derivatives including flephedrone, MDPBP, MDPV and 4-MePPP. It was also found in combination with 4-MePPP being sold as "NRG-3". Reports indicate side effects include feelings of paranoia, agitation and inability to sleep, with effects lasting for several days at high doses. Pharmacology Pentylone acts as a serotonin-norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor and a serotonin releasing agent. Methylenedioxypyrovalerone
Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV) is a stimulant of the cathinone class that acts as a norepinephrine–dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI). It was first developed in the 1960s by a team at Boehringer Ingelheim. Its activity at the dopamine transporter is six times stronger than at the norepinephrine transporter and it is virtually inactive at the serotonin transporter. MDPV remained an obscure stimulant until around 2004 when it was reportedly sold as a designer drug. In the USA, products containing MDPV and labeled as bath salts were sold as recreational drugs in gas stations, similar to the marketing for Spice and K2 as incense, until it was banned in 2011. Eutylone (also known as β-keto-1,3-benzodioxolyl-''N''-ethylbutanamine, bk-EBDB, and ''N''-ethylbutylone) is a stimulant and empathogenic compound developed in the 1960s, which is classified as a designer drug.
