N. C. Sippy
N. C. Sippy (22 August 1926 25 November 2001) was an Indian film producer and director who originally worked as a production manager, executive producer and presenter during his initial career span. He later worked as a producer and Bollywood film director in several Hindi films in the cinema of India. Sippy is known for his prominent films such as ''Gol Maal'', ''Satte Pe Satta'', '' Chupke Chupke'', '' Anand'', ''Khubsoorat'', '' Guddi'', '' Aashirwad'', ''Padosan'' and other Hindi-language movies most of which were directed by Hrishikesh Mukherji. Early life N. C. Sippy was born in Karachi, British India and later in 1946, he moved to Bombay (now Mumbai) where an Indian comedian-actor named Gope helped him in his career development. N.C, with the help of Gope, worked as a production manager. His first production film was ''Talaq'' (1958) which was directed by Mahesh Kaul. ''Khubsoorat'' (transl. Beautiful) is a 1980 Indian Hindi, Hindi-language comedy-drama film, directed and produced by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, co-produced by N. C. Sippy with dialogues written by Gulzar. The movie stars Ashok Kumar, Rekha, Rakesh Roshan, Dina Pathak in lead roles. The movie received critical acclaim and was a box-office success. The movie was remade in Telugu language, Telugu as Swargam in 1981 and Tamil language, Tamil as Lakshmi Vandhachu and in Malayalam as Vannu Kandu Keezhadakki. The Khoobsurat (2014 film), 2014 film of the same name was loosely based on it and was Disney's first live-action Bollywood movie. Hrishikesh Mukherjee won the 1981 Filmfare Award for Best Film for his direction. Rekha won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her role as Manju Dayal. ''Bombay to Goa'' is a 1972 Indian Hindi-language road comedy film directed by S. Ramanathan, starring Mehmood, Amitabh Bachchan and Aruna Irani, with Shatrughan Sinha in a supporting role. ''Mere Apne'' is a 1971 Indian Hindi-language film written and directed by Gulzar and produced by Romu, Raj and N. C. Sippy. It was Gulzar's first directorial venture and was almost a frame by frame remake of the National Award-winning Bengali film ''Apanjan'', which was directed by Tapan Sinha. This was the first movie of Vinod Khanna as Hero. This was also debut movie of Danny.
