München Berg Am Laim Railway Station
Munich-Berg am Laim station is a stop on the Munich S-Bahn in the district of Berg am Laim in the Bavarian state capital of Munich. The station is served daily from about 300 services of the Munich S-Bahn each day and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. It has two platforms tracks and lies on the Munich–Rosenheim railway and the Munich–Mühldorf railway. History No station was opened at Berg am Laim when the Munich–Rosenheim railway opened on 15 October 1871. Berg am Laim was only opened as a halt (german: Haltepunkt) on 1 in May 1897, but only on the line to Rosenheim, which then ran parallel but south of the line to Mühldorf at this point. The station was, however, closed on 1 May 1915 because the line to Rosenheim was moved to the north so that it was next to the line to Mühldorf, but no new station was opened. Line S6 is a line on the Munich S-Bahn network. It is operated by DB Regio Bayern. It runs from Tutzing station to Zorneding via Starnberg, Pasing, central Munich and Munich East. The line is operated at 20-minute intervals between Starnberg and Munich East. Platform Display
A platform display, destination display or train describer (British English) is supplementing the destination sign on arriving trains giving passengers an advance information. Historically they did only show the next destination and sometimes the type of train. In later usage they were replaced by passenger information display systems (PIDS) allowing for real-time passenger information. The first railway stations had only a time table for passenger information. On larger stations the train porters would help passengers to board the correct train matching with their ticket. They were supervised by a station manager that would handle the security requirements for each departing train. The first help in that task was a bell to remind passengers to board the train in time which on smaller stations does also announce the next train.
