The Myrtle Beach Boyz were an American soccer team that played in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They were part of the USISL professional soccer league that was the eventually the foundation for Major League Soccer we see today. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). 1995 USISL Professional League
The 1995 USISL Professional League was the higher of the two outdoor men's leagues run by the United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues during the summer of 1995. Overview From its beginnings in 1986 as a semi-professional indoor league in the American Southwest, the USISL had grown over the last decade. In 1989, the league added a summer, outdoor competition which had grown in popularity as the indoor league slowly shrank. By 1994, the outdoor season included 69 teams with various levels of professionalism. In 1995, the USISL decided to split the summer schedule into two different leagues, the Professional and the Premier Leagues. Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium is a 6,500-capacitmulti-use stadium located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The stadium is named for Doug Shaw, Sr., the long-time coach of the Myrtle Beach High School Seahawks football team. During his reign on the sidelines, his Seahawk teams went to the AAA state championship game five years in a row, winning the title four times. The USL Championship (USLC) is a professional men's soccer league in the United States that began its inaugural season in 2011. The USL is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (U.S. Soccer) as a Division II league since 2017, placing it under Major League Soccer (Division I) in the hierarchy. FC Tulsa is an American professional soccer team based in Tulsa, Oklahoma which competes in the USL Championship, the second tier of the American soccer pyramid. History The club was founded as Tulsa Roughnecks FC by Jeff and Dale Hubbard, brothers and co-owners of the Tulsa Drillers minor league baseball franchise. David Irving (footballer)
David Irving (born 10 September 1951) is an English football manager and former player who played as a forward. Playing career Irving started his professional playing career with Workington AFC before signing for Everton in the old English Football League First Division for £30,000 – the highest youth transfer fee of the time. Later on he moved to Sheffield United on loan and Oldham Athletic. In the mid-1970s he crossed the Atlantic to play in the United States for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers (1977–83). Whilst with the Strikers, he played alongside such legendary players as Gordon Banks, Gerd Müller, Teófilo Cubillas and George Best. He also played against footballers like Pelé and Franz Beckenbauer. Kevin Watson Scott (born 17 December 1966) is an English former football defender. He played over 300 games in the Football League for six different clubs. Starting his career with Newcastle United in 1984, he spent ten years with the club, playing as captain as the club won the First Division title in 1992–93. A big money move to Tottenham Hotspur followed in February 1994. However, he did not settle at the club, and instead spent the majority of his three years at the club on loan at Port Vale, Charlton Athletic and Norwich City. Hendrig "Henry" Gutierrez (born August 28, 1968 in Hoboken, New Jersey and raised in Miami) is an American former soccer player who began his career in the lower French divisions before finishing it in the United States. He was a member of the U.S. teams at the 1985 FIFA U-16 World Championship and the 1987 FIFA World Youth Championship. He earned one cap with the United States men's national soccer team. Gabriel "Gabe" Garcia is a retired American soccer forward who spent his entire career in the SISL and USISL. He won two USISL championships, both with the Greensboro Dynamo. Youth Garcia attended UNC Charlotte where he played on the men’s soccer team from 1988 to 1992. He was a 1991 second team All American. He finished his four seasons with 39 goals in 77 games. In October 2002, UNC-Charlotte retired Garcia’s jersey at the halftime of the Duke-Charlotte soccer game. Professional In 1991, Garcia, along with his twin brother Carlos, played for the San Antonio Generals during the SISL outdoor season. He scored eight goals in sixteen games that season.
