1995 USISL Professional League
The 1995 USISL Professional League was the higher of the two outdoor men's leagues run by the United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues during the summer of 1995. Overview From its beginnings in 1986 as a semi-professional indoor league in the American Southwest, the USISL had grown over the last decade. In 1989, the league added a summer, outdoor competition which had grown in popularity as the indoor league slowly shrank. By 1994, the outdoor season included 69 teams with various levels of professionalism. In 1995, the USISL decided to split the summer schedule into two different leagues, the Professional and the Premier Leagues. The Professional League was fully professional while the Premier League continued to allow amateur and semi-professional teams to compete. United Systems Of Independent Soccer Leagues
United Soccer League (USL), formerly known as United Soccer Leagues, is a soccer league in the United States and Canada. It organizes several men's and women's leagues, both professional and amateur. Men's leagues currently organized are the USL Championship, USL League One, USL League Two, and the youth Super Y League. A new women's league, the USL W League, began play in 2022. It is directly affiliated with the United States Soccer Federation and the United States Adult Soccer Association. The USL is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. The Columbus Xoggz (known as the Ohio Xoggz in their final season) were an American soccer team that played in Columbus, Ohio. The team played their games at Dublin Coffman High School. History The Xoggz were founded ahead of the 1994 United States Interregional Soccer League (USISL) season by Kinsley Nyce, a lawyer and businessman who had previously been involved with the North American Soccer League and Major Indoor Soccer League. The club hired Chris Brown, who had previously coached at Wittenburg University, as its first head coach. According to Nyce, the club operated with a $250,000 budget for the first season, and needed to average 3,000 attendees per match to break even. Milwaukee Rampage
The Milwaukee Rampage are a former defunct professional American soccer team, that was located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which played in the A-League. History Founded in 1993 by Milwaukee area businessmen Dan Doucette and Jim Hock, the Rampage played its first game on June 24, 1993, against Siarka Tarnobrzeg. Head coach Boro Sucevic fielded a team which included Tony Sanneh, Brian McBride, Kris Kelderman, Joey Kirk and Steve Provan. The Rampage played another six exhibition games that summer before playing in its first full season a year later. The team entered the 1994 United States Interregional Soccer League where it fell to the Minnesota Thunder in the Midwest Division final. Detroit Wheels were a United States soccer team based in Detroit, Michigan, that played in the USISL for two seasons. Owned by Antonio Soave and Greg Reynolds, the team was established in 1994. At the time the ownership intended to move up to the American Professional Soccer League for the 1995 season. However, mounting debts and a smaller than expected fan base saw them remain in the USISL.
