Mykola Vynnychenko
Mykola Alekseyevich Vynnychenko (russian: Николай Алексеевич Винниченко; born 12 November 1958) is a former Soviet Ukrainian race walker. Vinnichenko won bronze in men's 10,000 m walk at the 1975 European Junior Championships as a 16-year-old. He was still eligible to compete as a junior in the 1977 championships in Donetsk, and won in the meeting record time of 41:31.6. In 1979 Vinnichenko won the 20 kilometres race walk at the Soviet Spartakiad, ahead of Anatoliy Solomin and Boris Yakovlev; his time of 1:22:29.0 was a new championship record. Later that year he placed third behind Mexico's Daniel Bautista and Yakovlev in the IAAF Race Walking Cup; his time of 1:20:05 would have been his personal best and well under the previous world record of Reima Salonen, but the measurement of the course was questionable. Daniel Bautista
Daniel Bautista Rocha (born August 4, 1952) is a Mexican former track and field athlete and Olympic champion. He was born in El Salado, San Luis Potosí, El Salado, San Luis Potosí. In his relatively short career, Bautista dominated the walk, on the track as well as in road events. He won international attention in 1975 when he won the 20 km walk at the Pan-American Games in his native Mexico City, which made him among the favorites for the Olympic games the following year. At the 1976 Summer Olympic games in Montreal he won the gold ahead of two East German athletes, Hans-Georg Reimann who won silver, and defending Olympic champion Peter Frenkel who took bronze. Bautista was so dehydrated after the event that he had to drink ten cans of soft drink before he could produce enough urine for the drug test that he had to take. Soviet Athletics Championships
The Soviet Athletics Championships (russian: link=no, Чемпионат СССР по лёгкой атлетике) was an annual outdoor track and field competition organised by the Soviet Athletics Federation, which served as the Soviet national championship for the sport. The early history of event traces back to two events organised by a Moscow-based skiing club: this was first held in 1920 for men only. Following the Declaration of the Creation of the USSR, the next two editions in 1923 and 1924 increased in size and were held as an All-Union sports festival. A marked increase came in 1928 when 1281 athletes competed, drawing from five Union Republics, 12 regions of the Russian SDSSR and 11 foreign delegations. The event was held consistently every year from 1943 onwards.
