My Wild Irish Rose (1922 Film)
''My Wild Irish Rose'' is a lost 1922 American silent drama film directed by David Smith and based on Dion Boucicault's 19th century play ''The Shaughraun''. It was produced and released by the Vitagraph Company of America. Plot Based on the play ''The Shaughraun'', this is the story of Robert Ffolliat, a young Irish lad, who is done out of his land and sent off to a penal colony in Australia following false accusations by the greedy Kinchella. Conn the Shaughraun comes to his rescue, helps him to escape from the prison ship and return to Ireland where he is united with his sweetheart. David Smith (director)
David Smith (28 October 1872 – 25 April 1930) was an English film director and cinematographer of the silent era. He directed more than 70 films between 1915 and 1927. He was born in Faversham, Kent, and died in Santa Barbara, California. He was the older brother of Albert E. Smith, one of the co-founders of the Vitagraph Studios. James Farley (actor)
James Farley (January 8, 1882 – October 12, 1947) was an American character actor of the silent and sound film eras. Biography Born in Waldron, Arkansas, on January 8, 1882, Farley made his film debut in the 1916 silent film ''Sins of Her Parent''. During his thirty-year film career he appeared in over 200 films and film shorts, including over 175 feature films. Farley worked right up until his death; his final film was released after his death, 1948's '' The Man from Texas''. The production of the film ended in early June 1947, and Farley died shortly after, on October 12, 1947, in Pacoima, California. Vitagraph Studios, also known as the Vitagraph Company of America, was a United States motion picture studio. It was founded by J. Stuart Blackton and Albert E. Smith in 1897 in Brooklyn, New York, as the American Vitagraph Company. By 1907, it was the most prolific American film production company, producing many famous silent films. It was bought by Warner Bros. in 1925. History In 1896, English émigré Blackton was moonlighting as a reporter/artist for the New York ''Evening World'' when he was sent to interview Thomas Edison about his new film projector. The inventor talked the entrepreneurial reporter into buying a set of films and a projector. Richard Daniels Jr. (October 11, 1914 – August 20, 1970) known professionally as Mickey Daniels, was an American actor. Signed by Hal Roach in 1921, he was, along with Joe Cobb, Jackie Condon, Jackie Davis, Mary Kornman, and Ernie Morrison, a regular in the popular ''Our Gang'' comedies during the silent era of the series, between 1922 and 1926. Early life and career Daniels was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the son of Welsh-born American actor Richard Daniels and his wife Hannah. In 1921, Daniels was discovered by a talent scout while performing at an amateur night at the Rialto Theatre in Rock Springs. Shortly thereafter, he was signed by Hal Roach to appear in the ''Our Gang'' film series. The red-haired, freckle-faced Daniels was one of the lead characters in the ''Our Gang'' film shorts from 1922 to 1926.
