Muswellbrook Shire
Muswellbrook Shire is a local government area in the Upper Hunter region of New South Wales, Australia. The Shire is situated adjacent to the New England Highway and the Hunter railway line. Muswellbrook Shire was established on 1 July 1979 from the amalgamation of the Municipality of Muswellbrook with the adjacent Denman Shire, which had been called Muswellbrook Shire between 1907 and 1968. The Mayor of the Muswellbrook Shire Council is Cr. Steven Reynolds. Main towns and villages The Shire includes Muswellbrook, Denman, Baerami, McCullys Gap, Martindale, Muscle Creek, Sandy Hollow, Widden and Wybong. Coal Mining Muswellbrook started as coal mining town in late 1800s and began open cut mining in 1944. The oldest coal was opened in 1906. Hunter Railway Line, New South Wales
The Hunter Line is a commuter train line operated by NSW TrainLink, running from Newcastle to Dungog and Scone in the New South Wales Hunter Region. It operates on the Newcastle, Main North and North Coast lines. Description of Route Hunter Line services operate from Newcastle on the Newcastle branch line to Islington Junction, the Main North line between Islington Junction and Scone, the North Coast line between Maitland and Dungog. The Hunter Line shares its portion of the Main North Line and North Coast Line with NSW TrainLink North Western and North Coast regional services respectively. Sandy Hollow is a small rural town in New South Wales, Australia in Muswellbrook Shire. The town is located on the Golden Highway in the far west of the Upper Hunter Region, about 260 km north of Sydney. Baerami, New South Wales
Baerami is a locality in the Muswellbrook Shire in the Upper Hunter region of New South Wales, Australia. The Bylong Valley Way crosses the Baerami Creek via Kirks Bridge at Baerami. Downstream of the bridge, the creek meets its confluence with the Goulburn River. The name of Baerami is associated with a deposit of oil shale, which was reputedly the largest in New South Wales and around twice the size of that at Glen Davis. Denman is a small town in New South Wales, Australia, in Muswellbrook Shire. It is on the Golden Highway in the Upper Hunter Region, about north of Sydney. At the 2016 census, Denman had a population of 1,789. Description Denman is situated on the Hunter River near the Wollemi National Park.
