Muskoka (provincial Electoral District)
Muskoka was an electoral riding in Ontario, Canada. It existed in various incarnations and names throughout its existence. It started as Muskoka-Parry Sound in 1875 and then changed to Muskoka in 1886. In 1934 it changed to Muskoka-Ontario and lasted until 1955 when it changed back to Muskoka. In 1987 it changed again to Muskoka-Georgian Bay. It was eliminated by redistribution in 1999, and its territories went to the new ridings of Parry Sound—Muskoka (66%) and Simcoe North Simcoe North (french: Simcoe-Nord) is a federal electoral district in central Ontario, Canada. A riding is an administrative jurisdiction or electoral district, particularly in several current or former Commonwealth countries. Etymology The word ''riding'' is descended from late Old English or (recorded only in Latin contexts or forms, e.g., , , , with Latin initial ''t'' here representing the Old English letter thorn). It came into Old English as a loanword from Old Norse , meaning a third part (especially of a county) – the original "ridings", in the English counties of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, were in each case a set of three, though once the term was adopted elsewhere it was used for other numbers (compare to farthings). The modern form ''riding'' was the result of the initial ''th'' being absorbed in the final ''th'' or ''t'' of the words ''north'', ''south'', ''east'' and ''west'', by which it was normally preceded.

Parry Sound—Muskoka is a provincial electoral district in the Canadian province of Ontario. The riding was once held by Ontario Premier Ernie Eves, and at present by Norm Miller, son of former Premier Frank Miller. The district, which has existed since 1999, has identical boundaries to those of the federal district of Parry Sound—Muskoka.
