Music Of Irkutsk
The city of Irkutsk is the administrative center of Irkutsk Oblast, both of which produced several famous popular musicians and have a number of styles of folk music. Musicians from Irkutsk include the rock bands '' Bely Ostrog'' (a.k.a. Two Siberians (White Fort)), '' Printsip Neopredelyonnosti'', and '' Chyorno-Belye Snimki''. The city of Irkutsk has long been a center for musical development in Siberia. Music institutions The Irkutsk Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in the 1850s. The first major school of musical education was founded in 1899, followed a few years later by the opening of the Irkutsk branch of the Imperial Russian Musical Society. Irkutsk Oblast (russian: Ирку́тская о́бласть, Irkutskaya oblast; bua, Эрхүү можо, Erkhüü mojo) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast), located in southeastern Siberia in the basins of the Angara, Lena, and Nizhnyaya Tunguska Rivers. The administrative center is the city of Irkutsk. It borders the Republic of Buryatia and the Tuva Republic in the south and southwest, which separate it from Khövsgöl Province in Mongolia; Krasnoyarsk Krai in the west; the Sakha Republic in the northeast; and Zabaykalsky Krai in the east. Two Siberians (White Fort)
Two Siberians is a Russian music duo composed of Artyom Yakushenko (electric violin) and Yuriy Matveyev (electric guitar). In Russia, their music has been produced under the name White Fort (russian: Белый Острог, ''Belyi Ostrog''). Matveyev and Yakushenko are, as their Western ''nom de plume'' suggests, actual residents of Siberia. They met in 1986 while studying at the Irkutsk Art Academy. At their debut concert in Novosibirsk, they won the festival's award for "Best Original Artists," an honor which nearly got them expelled from school (for sullying their stern classical training by performing Jazz and Rock music). As White Fort, the duo released nine studio albums in their native country between 1995 and 2006, including the score for a ballet, and soundtracks for Russian television and film. Leonid Kharitonov (singer)
Leonid Mikhailovich Kharitonov (russian: Леонид Михайлович Харитонов; 18 September 1933 – 19 September 2017) was a Soviet and Russian bass-baritone (баритональный бас) singer. He was honored with People's Artist of the RSFSR and Honored Artist of RSFSR. In the West he was noted for his 1965 video of The Song of the Volga Boatmen. Early life He was born in Golumet, Irkutsk Oblast, in 1933. When his father went missing in World War II, his mother brought him up. Between 1934 and 1942 he was at Cheremkhovo, and attended school number 25 from 1941 to 1942. Back at Golumet he attended school from 1942 to 1945, and stayed at Golumet until 1947. For a year from the age of 14 (from 1947 to 1948) he studied to be a welder in F.Z.O. and worked at a plant in Kuibysheva in the Irkutsk Oblast as a moulder and caster. From 1948 to 1950 back in Golumet again, he worked in M.T.S. as an electric welder, meanwhile beginning to perform as a singer. Oleg Medvedev (born 14 June 1985) is a Russian luge athlete. Along with Ivan Nevmerzhitski he placed twentieth in the two man luge doubles in the 2008–09 Luge World Cup. In 2009 at the world championships in Lake Placid, New York Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States.
