Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej w Warszawie is a museum in Warsaw, Poland. It was established in 2005. Until the construction of its new museum, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw carries out its program activities in a temporary premises Museum at Pańska (office spaces at ul. Pańska 3) and the Museum over Vistula pavillion (exhibition space at Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie 22). The Director of the museum since June 6, 2007 has been Joanna Mytkowska. The construction of the new museum In 2006, an international architectural competition for the design of the museum was announced. The competition was won in February 2007 by Swiss architect Christian Kerez. It was chosen from 109 designs. The building of about 30,000 square meters was to be completed from 2012-2016 on the northern side of Parade Square beside Marszałkowska Street (previously occupied by a marketplace). Joanna Mytkowska
Joanna Mytkowska (1970) is a Polish curator and art critic. She has been the director of the Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw since 2007. She is the co-founder of the Foksal Gallery Foundation, which since 2001 has been operating independently from the Foksal Gallery. Life and work Joanna Mytkowska studied at the University of Warsaw from 1988 to 1994. She was the curator of the Artur Żmijewski exhibition at the Polish Pavilion during the 51st Venice Biennale (2005). She organized the following exhibits for the Centre Georges Pompidou: Paweł Althamer (2006), The Magellanic Cloud (2007), The Anxious (2008) and Promises of the Past (2010). Hanna Beata Gronkiewicz-Waltz (, born 4 November 1952) is a Polish politician and lawyer, Professor of Jurisprudence and politician who served as the city mayor of Warsaw between 2006 and 2018. She is the first woman to hold this position. Life and career Between 1992 and 2000, she was the chairman of the National Bank of Poland, the central bank of Poland. Thomas Phifer (born 1953 in South Carolina) is an American architect based in New York City. He is perhaps best known for his design of the Glenstone Museum expansion in Potomac, Maryland, the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, North Carolina, the Corning Museum of Glass Contemporary Art + Design expansion, and the Brochstein Pavilion at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Phifer designed the new Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, which is currently under construction and will be located on the northern side of Plac Defilad next to the Palace of Culture and Science. Ujazdów Castle
Ujazdów Castle ( pl, Zamek Ujazdowski) is a castle in the historic Ujazdów district, between Ujazdów Park (''Park Ujazdowski'') and the Royal Baths Park (''Łazienki Królewskie''), in Warsaw, Poland. Its beginnings date to the 13th century, and it was rebuilt several times. Like many structures in Warsaw, it sustained much damage in the Warsaw Uprising (1944).
