Mungo Park (theatre)
Mungo Park is a Danish theatre in Allerød, 35 kilometers north of Copenhagen. Founded in 1985 under the name Dr Dante, it got its present name in 1992. It has been a sandbox for talent and has been important in the development of modern Danish theatre. Allerød Municipality
Allerød Kommune is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 67 km2, and has a population of 25,867 (1 January 2022). Its mayor is Karsten Längerich of the political party Venstre. Overview The main town, Lillerød (often referred to as 'Allerød'), is also the site of the municipal council. Danish Theatre
The theatre of Denmark continues to thrive thanks to the many theatres in Copenhagen and across the country which put on a wide variety of Danish and foreign performances. The flagship Royal Danish Theatre presents drama, opera, ballet and music. Since the 18th century, Danish playwrights have been successful in attracting wide public interest. History It was in the 18th century with the plays of Ludvig Holberg (1684–1754) that Danish theatre began to prosper. Holberg, sometimes known as the Danish Molière in view of his successful satirical comedies (1722), is considered to be the founder of the Danish theatre. Plays such as ''Jean de France'' and ''Jeppe of the Hill'' are still performed today. Adam Oehlenschläger (1779–1850) introduced romanticism to the Danish theatre. Especially successful was his ''Earl Hakon the Mighty'', premiered in 1808. Imperial Theater, Copenhagen
Imperial has the largest single screen in Northern Europe with 1002 seats. It is among the best cinemas in Copenhagen and is usually the go-to place for cinephiles in the Danish capital. Imperial is owned by Nordisk Film and is located near Vesterport railway station. It has undergone several renewals, the latest of which were completed in September 2013 when Dolby Atmos was installed. It is one of the only big cinemas in Copenhagen which can still project 70 mm film, as well as the only one which can project 4K in 3D. Renewals The cinema has undergone several renewals over the years. Among the biggest can be mentioned the change from 1521 to 1179 seats in 1988, with the number of seats being further reduced in 1998 in order to pass the THX-certification.
