Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-speed Rail Corridor
Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) or Mumbai–Ahmedabad HSR is an under-construction high-speed rail line connecting India's economic hub Mumbai with the city of Ahmedabad. When completed, it will be India's first high-speed rail line. Construction was expected to begin by April 2020, and the project was expected to be completed by December 2023. Due to delays acquiring land in Maharashtra, a completion date for the whole corridor is uncertain, though the 352 km stretch through Gujarat may open in 2027. A stretch of , from Surat to Bilimora, is expected to be completed by 2026. History Conception The Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor, along with five other high-speed rail corridors, was introduced for a feasibility study in the 2009–2010 Rail Budget. E5 Series Shinkansen
The and the related are Japanese Shinkansen high-speed train types built by Hitachi Rail and Kawasaki Heavy Industries. The E5 series is operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East); it was introduced on Tohoku Shinkansen services on 5 March 2011 and on Hokkaido Shinkansen services on 26 March 2016. A total of 59 10-car sets are on order, with three sets in service in time for the start of new ''Hayabusa'' services to Shin-Aomori in March 2011.
