Muar River
The Muar River ( ms, Sungai Muar) is a river which flows through the states of Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang in Malaysia. The river also flows through Muar town. History The Muar River formed part of the '' Penarikan'', an ancient overland trade route, which was a short-cut from the west to the east coast of the Malay Peninsula. Course The source of the Muar River is located in Talang, Kuala Pilah District, Negeri Sembilan, deep in the Titiwangsa Range. It was impounded by the Talang Dam, becoming Talang Lake, to meet the needs of water supply in Kuala Pilah and the entire state. From the dam, the river then flows south into the town centre and Juasseh within the same district, the west side of Bahau and Rompin in Jempol District and Pasir Besar in Tampin District, and flows all the way into the border with Johor. Muar (town)
Muar (Jawi alphabet, Jawi: موار) or Bandar Maharani, is a historical town and the capital of Muar District, Johor, Malaysia. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Malaysia to be visited and explored for its food, coffee and historical prewar buildings. It was recently declared as the royal town of Johor by Ibrahim Ismail of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and is the fourth largest urban area (after Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat (town), Batu Pahat and Kluang) in Johor. Segamat ( Jawi: سڬامت Chinese: 昔加末) is a town located in the Segamat District, Johor, Malaysia. It is 95 km travel distance via North–South Expressway from Johor Bahru to Yong Peng, and another 77 km from Federal Route 1. Pagoh
Pagoh is a suburb in Muar District, Johor, Malaysia. Pagoh is accessible via one of the main interchanges on the North–South Expressway, the major expressway on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. There are several federal government institutions in that town, including Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) and Malaysian National Service Nasuha Camp. Muar Second Bridge
Muar Second Bridge ( Malay: ''Jambatan Kedua Muar'' Jawi: ''جمبتن كدوا موار'') is a famous landmark in Muar, Johor, Malaysia. It crosses the Muar River. History Between the 1990s to 2000s, traffic congestion was prevalent at the Sultan Ismail Bridge since the official opening of the North–South Expressway Southern Route between Ayer Keroh and Pagoh and the opening of the Tangkak and Pagoh Interchange on April 1, 1989. In 1998, the federal government announced that a second bridge would be built at Parit Bunga to ease traffic congestion on the existing bridge. Jambatan Sultan Ismail
The Sultan Ismail Bridge ( ms, Jambatan Sultan Ismail; Jawi: جمبتن سلطان اسماعيل) is a bridge in Muar town across the Muar River in Johor, Malaysia. It was the first bridge built across a river that connects Bandar Maharani, Muar to Tanjung Agas which is now named as part of Tangkak district. The bridge replaced old ferry services in the 1960s. Meander
A meander is one of a series of regular sinuous curves in the channel of a river or other watercourse. It is produced as a watercourse erodes the sediments of an outer, concave bank ( cut bank) and deposits sediments on an inner, convex bank which is typically a point bar. The result of this coupled erosion and sedimentation is the formation of a sinuous course as the channel migrates back and forth across the axis of a floodplain. The zone within which a meandering stream periodically shifts its channel is known as a meander belt. It typically ranges from 15 to 18 times the width of the channel. The Muar District is a district in Johor, Malaysia. Muar is located at the mouth of the Muar River, on the coast of the Straits of Malacca. Tangkak District
The Tangkak District is a district in western Johor, Malaysia, bordering Malacca to the west. The district also shares a 2 kilometre border with Negeri Sembilan to the northwest. Segamat District
The Segamat District ( ms, Daerah Segamat) or simply Segamat is a district in the Malaysian state of Johor. Segamat is also the name of the district's primary town. Etymology It is believed that 'Segamat' is derived from the Malay phrase '', which literally translates as 'very refreshing'.
