Moorebank is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Moorebank is located 27 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of the City of Liverpool. Moorebank features a mix of residential and industrial areas. Moorebank Shopping Village is a small shopping centre. History The suburb takes its name from early settler Thomas Moore. Moorebank was originally home to vineyards and other rural activities. Nuwarra Public School opened in 1973 and is located directly opposite Moorebank shopping centre, which also opened in the early 1970s. Moorebank is built atop a plateau and was cut off from surrounding areas in the floods of 1986. The Moorebank Intermodal Terminal is an intermodal terminal under construction in the south-western Sydney suburb of Moorebank. History In 2010, the Department of Finance and Deregulation conducted a feasibility study into the development of the intermodal terminal at Moorebank in south-western Sydney. In April 2012 the Federal Government committed to developing the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal with private sector involvement. The M5 Motorway is a motorway located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia that is designated with the M5 route and forms part of the Sydney Orbital Network. History The division was created in 1955 and is named for Billy Hughes, who was Prime Minister of Australia from 1915 to 1923.
