Monwar Hossain Nannu
Monwar Hossain Nannu (27 August 1948 – 16 February 2008) was a Bangladeshi professional football player during the 1970s and early 1980s. Initially, He played as an attacking midfielder for Abahani Limited Dhaka in Dhaka League. Following an injury in the mid 1970s, he moved to the central defender position and excelled in that position as well. He was a member of Bangladesh's first national football team. Career In the early sixties while still at school, Nannu practiced at the EPG Press field and Ex- Pakistan national team player Syed Abdur Rashid Chunna who coached EPG Press (now BG Press) let Nannu train with the EPG Press football team, when there were not enough players present. In 1965, Nannu got an opportunity to play for the 'B' team of Azad Sporting, a third division team. Nannu went onto mature by playing in the second division with Rahmatganj MFS in 1966 and Dilkusha SC in 1967. Jamalpur ( bn, জামালপুর জেলা, ''Jamalpur Jela'' also ''Jamalpur Zila'') is a district in Bangladesh, part of the Mymensingh Division. It was established in 1978. Pestabola Merdeka
Merdeka Tournament or Pestabola Merdeka is a friendly football tournament held in Malaysia to commemorate the Independence Day. The competition bears the Malay word for independence. As of 2022, it has been held 40 times, and decreasingly in recent decades. Matches in Merdeka tournament considered International "A" matches (Friendly match) by FIFA. Its final has been mainly held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. Amalesh Sen
Amalesh Sen ( bn, অমলেশ সেন; 2 March 1943 – 7 October 2017) was a Bangladeshi football player and coach. He started his career in Dhaka by playing for Fire Service Team and Shadhin Bangla Football Team, but spent many years as a player and later coach for Dhaka Abahani. Amalesh is the first ever goalscorer in a Dhaka Derby match, he scored the historic goal for Abahani in 1973. He later coached both Abahnai Limited Dhaka and Muktijoddha Sangsad KC in the Bangladesh Premier League. Khurshid Alam Babul ( bn, খুরশিদ আলম বাবুল) is a prominent former Bangladeshi footballer of the 1970 and the 80s. An attacking midfielder he achieved most of his laurels while playing for Abahani KC in the Dhaka League during his 10-year spell with the club starting in 1977. Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul
Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul is a former national footballer of Bangladesh and the former Youth and Sports Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League. Playing career Tutul began his career as a striker in the Dhaka Second Division Football League with Dhanmondi Club in 1974. He was later invited to join the junior team of Abahani Krira Chakra by Ali Imam. He soon shifted to defence under the team guided by Monwar Hossain Nannu and eventually became a right full who frequently made overlaps. Khandaker Rakibul Islam ( bn, খন্দকার রকিবুল ইসলাম; born 1 January 1956), better known as Rakib, is a retired Bangladeshi footballer who played as a left-back. Club career In 1973, Rakib debuted for Mohammedan SC in the Dhaka League, later winning the league in 1975 and 1976. In 1977, he became captain during the Aga Khan Gold Cup at age 22. In 1978, he joined rivals Abahani Krira Chakra. Although he didn't win the league there, his performance in the 1979 Aga Khan Gold Cup stood out. Shahidur Rahman Chowdhury ( bn, শহীদুর রহমান চৌধুরী; born 17 November 1947), known by his nickname Shantoo, is a former Bangladeshi football player and manager. Sheikh Kamal (5 August 1949 – 15 August 1975) was the eldest son of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, former President of Bangladesh and the younger brother of Sheikh Hasina, the current Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
