Montreal Alliance
The Montreal Alliance are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada founded in 2021. They compete in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) and play their home games at the Verdun Auditorium. The Montreal Alliance’s mascot is called “Alli-Oop”. History Most recently, the Montreal Jazz played its only season in the National Basketball League of Canada in the 2012–13 season. The team did not play in the 2013–14 NBL Canada season after failing to secure a new ownership group. In February 2021, it was first announced that a Montreal team would join the CEBL in 2022. On October 27, 2021, the team name and branding was revealed. Joel Anthony was named the inaugural general manager of the Alliance the next month. Canadian Elite Basketball League
The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is a men's professional minor league basketball organization. The CEBL was founded in 2017 and began play in 2019 with six teams competing all owned and operated by ownership group Canadian Basketball Ventures. The league currently consists of ten teams from six different provinces, with four being from Ontario, two from Alberta and one each from the provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Quebec, making the CEBL the largest professional sports league based entirely in Canada. Verdun Auditorium
The Verdun Auditorium is an arena located in the borough of Verdun, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The building was constructed in 1938 and holds 4,114 seats. The largest arena in the west end of Montreal, the complex is also home to Arena Denis Savard, a small minor-hockey rink, attached to its side. The Auditorium has hosted various Quebec Major Junior Hockey League teams, including the Verdun Juniors, Verdun Éperviers and Verdun Collège Français. In 1993, it also hosted the Montreal Dragons for its lone season in the short lived National Basketball League. It was slated to become the home arena of Les Canadiennes de Montréal in 2019, but was cancelled due to CWHL folding on May 1. Joel Anthony
Joel Vincent Anthony (born August 9, 1982) is a Canadian former professional basketball player who played for the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, and San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He won two championships with the Heat in 2012 and 2013. He is the General manager of the Montreal Alliance of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Previously he was a player consultant for the Hamilton Honey Badgers. He is a former member of the Canada national team. Vincent Lavandier
Vincent Lavandier (born February 10, 1972) is a French basketball coach. He was most recently the head coach of the Montreal Alliance of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Career Lavandier spent much of his early coaching career in his homeland, learning as an assistant under Jacques Monclar at Paris Basket Racing and Grégor Beugnot at Élan Chalon. He took his first full head coaching role with Trappes in the NM1 league in 2006. He spent time as head coach of Lagardere Paris in Women's National 1 and then three years as an assistant coach at JL Bourg Basket. Lavandier took over at Angers in 2012, and led them to the NM1 title in 2014 and promotion to LNB Pro B. In June 2017, Lavandier became head coach of Union Tarbes-Lourdes. In February 2019, Lavandier was appointed interim head coach of the Glasgow Rocks, for the remainder of the 2018–19 season. 2012–13 NBL Canada Season
The 2012–13 NBL Canada season was the second season of the National Basketball League of Canada. The regular season began on Friday, November 2, 2012, when the Summerside Storm hosted the Saint John Mill Rats. The regular season ended on Saturday, March 16, 2013. The playoffs started on March 19 and ended on April 12 when the London Lightning defeated the Summerside Storm in Game 4 of their series, 87–80, winning the Finals, 3–1 and to capture the franchise's second NBL Canada title. 2013–14 NBL Canada Season
The 2013–14 NBL Canada season was the third season of the National Basketball League of Canada. The regular season began on November 1, 2013. The regular season ended on Friday, February 28, 2014, and the playoffs began on Sunday, March 2, 2014 and ended on Thursday, April 17, 2014 with the Windsor Express defeating the Island Storm in seven games to win the 2014 NBLC Finals. Offseason Following the conclusion of the 2012-13 NBL Canada season, the Oshawa Power relocated to Mississauga, Ontario, and were renamed the Mississauga Power. 2022 CEBL Season
The 2022 CEBL season was the fourth season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). It began on May 25, 2022, and ended on August 1, 2022. There will be play-in games on August 4 where the 5th to 8th seed will compete to play in the playoffs. The playoffs will start on August 6. The Championship weekend will be from August 12 to the 14; the Ottawa Blackjacks will be hosting the event. It is also the inaugural season for the Montreal Alliance, Newfoundland Growlers, and the Scarborough Shooting Stars. The Hamilton Honey Badgers defeated the Scarborough Shooting Stars 90–88, for their first CEBL championship in franchise history. They will represent Canada in the 2022-23 BCL Americas season.
