2012–13 NBL Canada Season
The 2012–13 NBL Canada season was the second season of the National Basketball League of Canada. The regular season began on Friday, November 2, 2012, when the Summerside Storm hosted the Saint John Mill Rats. The regular season ended on Saturday, March 16, 2013. The playoffs started on March 19 and ended on April 12 when the London Lightning defeated the Summerside Storm in Game 4 of their series, 87–80, winning the Finals, 3–1 and to capture the franchise's second NBL Canada title. Marvin Phillips was named the Finals MVP. Preseason Following the end of the 2011-12 NBL Canada season, the NBL Canada awarded Windsor, Ontario a franchise, named the Windsor Express, for the 2012–13 season. With the addition of the Express, the NBL Canada incorporated two four-team divisions, the Central and the Atlantic. National Basketball League Of Canada
The National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada; french: Ligue nationale de basketball du Canada) is a Canadian professional men's minor league basketball organization. The NBL Canada was founded in 2011, when three existing Premier Basketball League teams joined with four new franchises for the league's inaugural season. The league has changed in size multiple times and has four active teams for the 2023 season, all in Ontario, but historically has had several located in the Atlantic provinces. The league's season typically begins in November and ends in April of the following year. The most recent champions are the London Lightning, having defeated the KW Titans 3–0 in the 2022 NBL Finals. Moncton Miracles
The Moncton Miracles were a Canadian professional basketball team in Moncton, New Brunswick. Established in 2011, they were a charter member of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). The Miracles played their home games at the Moncton Coliseum as a part of the league's Atlantic Division and were one of two New Brunswick teams in the league along with the Saint John Riptide. The team was founded and owned by Steven Conville but were now without an owner for three seasons. Rodney Buford
Rodney Alan "The Sheriff" Buford (born November 2, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player who last played for the London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada. He played college basketball for the Creighton Bluejays. Buford played collegiately for Creighton University and was selected by the NBA's Miami Heat in the second round (53rd overall) of the 1999 NBA Draft. After seeing limited playing time during his rookie season with the Heat, Buford moved to Italy starting the season with Basket Rimini, but joined the Philadelphia 76ers in December for the 2000–01 season. Al Stewart (basketball)
Al Stewart (born September 5, 1983) is an American professional basketball player for the Moncton Magic of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). High school career Stewart attended Manley Academy in Chicago, Illinois, where he played basketball under head coach Bo Delaney. He was a teammate of future NBA player Luther Head. His playing time increased after Head left the team. Stewart was known for being a strong ball-handler and became Manley's top point guard heading into his senior season. Joel "Joey" Haywood (born 3 September 1984) is a Canadian-born Trinidad and Tobago professional basketball player. He has been a member of the Trinidad and Tobago national team. Antonio Ballard
Antonio Ballard (born April 30, 1988) is an American professional basketball player, who lastly played for ESSM Le Portel of the LNB Pro A. He played with the Summerside and Island Storm from 2012 to 2014 and was named a National Basketball League of Canada (NBL) All-Star in both seasons. Jermaine Blackburn (born February 8, 1983) is an American former basketball player. He is best known for recording the Continental Basketball Association's first-ever quadruple-double. On December 20, 2008, Blackburn was playing for the East Kentucky Miners against the West Virginia Wild. He compiled 22  points, 10  rebounds, 14  assists and 10  steals. Sylvania "Sly" Watkins (born February 18, 1985) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Moncton Miracles of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). He played college basketball at Okaloosa–Walton Community College and then Crichton College. Jonas Farley Pierre (born May 30, 1980) is an American professional basketball player. A center, he has played with three teams in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). Pierre last played with the Saint John Mill Rats in Canada. Christopher Joseph Hagan (born February 19, 1989) is an American former professional basketball player. He best known for his time spent in the New Zealand National Basketball League between 2011 and 2015. Darren Duncan (born November 11, 1988) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the KW Titans of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). Isaac Butts IV (born May 28, 1989) is an American professional basketball player and podcast host who currently plays for Koshigaya Alphas of the Japanese B-League.
