Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole is the ''métropole'', an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Montpellier. It is located in the Hérault department, in the Occitanie region, southern France. It was created in January 2015, replacing the previous ''Communauté d'agglomération de Montpellier''. Its area is 421.8 km2. Its population was 481,276 in 2018, of which 290,053 in Montpellier proper.Comparateur de territoire

Murviel-lès-Montpellier (, literally ''Murviel near Montpellier''; Languedocien: ''Mervièlh'') is a commune in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region in southern France. The Oppidum d'Altimurium, also known as the ''Oppidum Murviel-les-Montpellier'', is an ancient hill-town (or ''oppidum'') located near the village. Agénor Azéma de Montgravier, pioneering archaeologist, carried out excavations in the mid 19th century at the Roman ruins of Murviel-lès-Montpellier on behalf of the ''Commission de la Carte des Gaules''. An archaeological museum with some artifacts from the site is located in Murviel-les-Montpellier. Montaud (; oc, Montaut) is a commune in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region in southern France. Montaud is a mountain village with a dozen hamlets. It contains a school, a city hall, a church, and a few farms. Most inhabitants of Montaud work in nearby Montpellier, many as researchers, teachers, engineers and technicians. History French Cardinal, Bertrand Pierre (Cardinal de Colombier), who was used by the popes at Avignon for agent in wartime missions during the Hundred Years War and in the election of Charles of Bohemia to the imperial throne, died in Montaud in 1361. Montaud is located in the north of the Vercors, an important site of the French Resistance during World War II. Lattes, Hérault
Lattes (; oc, Latas) is a commune in the Hérault département in the Occitanie region in southern France, located just on the outskirts of Montpellier. Geography Lattes is located in the South of the prefecture of Montpellier in a plain split by the river Lez, that flows to the Mediterranean Sea at Palavas-les-Flots.
