MoneyForce
''MoneyForce'' is a programme that aims to improve the financial capability of the UK Armed Forces by providing money guidance to all those serving in the military and their families. The ethos and branding is built around the concept of getting 'MoneyFit' with MoneyForce and the MoneyForce website is fronted by former Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes. Comprising online resources and briefings at military bases across the UK, the programme is delivered for the Ministry of Defence by the Royal British Legion. Funding comes from the Standard Life Charitable Trust, and some of the online content is provided by the Money Advice Service. The programme was officially launched in March 2013 by Mark Francois, the Minister for Defence Personnel, Welfare and Veterans, at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich. Financial literacy is the possession of the set of skills and knowledge that allows an individual to make informed and effective decisions with all of their financial resources. Raising interest in personal finance is now a focus of state-run programs in countries including Australia, Canada, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Understanding basic financial concepts allows people to know how to navigate in the financial system. People with appropriate financial literacy training make better financial decisions and manage money better than those without such training. Dame Kelly Holmes
Dame Kelly Holmes (born 19 April 1970) is a retired British middle distance athlete. Holmes specialised in the 800 metres and 1,500 metres events and won gold medals for both distances at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. She set British records in numerous events and still holds the records over the 600, and 1,000 metre distances. She held the British 800 metre record until 2021. Inspired by a number of successful British middle-distance runners in the early 1980s, Holmes began competing in middle-distance events in her youth. She joined the British Army, but continued to compete at the organisation's athletics events. She turned to the professional athletics circuit in 1993 and in 1994 she won the 1,500 m at the Commonwealth Games and took silver at the European Championships. The Money and Pensions Service (sometimes stylised as Money & Pensions Service or MaPS) is an organisation whose statutory objective is to develop and co-ordinate a national strategy to improve people’s financial capabilities. The service provides impartial, free money and pensions guidance directly to consumers online and by telephone. Through partnerships, it also provides debt advice and pensions freedoms guidance to consumers, along with offering organisations such as employers syndicated money guidance content from its website. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Rayleigh and Wickford, previously Rayleigh, since the 2001 general election. Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich, is a barracks of the British Army which forms part of Woolwich Garrison. The Royal Regiment of Artillery had its headquarters here from 1776 until 2007, when it was moved to Larkhill Garrison. Lieutenant General Sir William Raoul Rollo, (born August 1955) is a former senior British Army officer. Military career Rollo was commissioned as a second lieutenant (on probation) in the Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve on 10 March 1977. He was then granted a short service commission, as a University Candidate, in the Blues and Royals on 4 September that year. His commission was subsequently confirmed and he was promoted to lieutenant, with seniority from 4 September 1975. He was promoted to captain on 4 March 1980, and to major on 30 September 1987.
