William Monahan
William J. Monahan (born November 3, 1960) is an American screenwriter and novelist. His second produced screenplay was '' The Departed'', a film that earned him a Writers Guild of America Award and Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Writer and editor Monahan was born in Dorchester, Boston. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he studied Elizabethan and Jacobean drama. He moved to New York City and contributed to the alternative weekly newspaper '' New York Press'' and the magazines ''Talk'', ''Maxim'', and ''Spy''. In 1997 Monahan won a Pushcart Prize for his short story "A Relation of Various Accidents Observable in Some Animals Included in Vacuo". He has collaborated with multiple artists and recorded a solo album, '' Last of Seven''. Sean Monahan (born October 12, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). Monahan was selected sixth overall by the Calgary Flames, at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and he played junior hockey with the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) where he served as team captain. Daniel Leo Monahan (December 13, 1926March 27, 2013) was an American sports journalist. He became a full-time journalist in 1950, and had a career which lasted 30 years combined with the ''Daily Record'', the ''Record American'', and the ''Herald American'' which then merged into the ''Boston Herald''. He later contributed to ''Sports Illustrated'' and the ''Sporting News'', and served as the director of information at the University of Massachusetts Boston. "A Rape on Campus" is a retracted, defamatory ''Rolling Stone'' magazine article written by Sabrina Erdely and originally published on November 19, 2014, that describes a purported group sexual assault at the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, Virginia. ''Rolling Stone'' retracted the story in its entirety on April 5, 2015. The article claimed that a UVA student Jackie Coakley had been taken to a party hosted by UVA's Phi Kappa Psi fraternity by a fellow student. Shane Monahan (born 28 April 1987) is an Irish professional rugby union player. Monahan previous played for Leinster as an academy player and for Connacht in Ireland. Garry Michael Monahan (born October 20, 1946) is a Canadian former professional hockey player who played 12 seasons in the National Hockey League. He was the first-ever draft pick in NHL history. Career Monahan was selected first overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1963 NHL Amateur Draft of 16-year-old players—the first pick of the NHL's first draft.
