Patrick Monahan (comedian)
Patrick Monahan (born 23 June 1976) is an Irish-Iranian comedian, who won the television competition series ''Take the Mike'' in 2001 and ''Show Me the Funny'' in 2011. He has performed regularly at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Monahan also holds the world record for "Longest Hug" at a time of 25 hours and 25 minutes, alongside fellow comedian Bob Slayer. They set this record at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013. Background Monahan's father was an Irish welder, who met Monahan's mother in a bank in Ahvaz, Iran prior to the Iranian Revolution, where Monhen was born. When he was 3 he and his parents and siblings had to leave the country during the '79 revolution, in company with his brother and sister, the three-year-old Monahan had to pose as his grandparents' son, because only one boy per couple could leave the country. Ahvaz ( fa, اهواز, Ahvâz ) is a city in the southwest of Iran and the capital of Khuzestan province. Ahvaz's population is about 1,300,000 and its built-up area with the nearby town of Sheybani is home to 1,136,989 inhabitants. "Only Girl (In the World)" is a song by Barbadian singer Rihanna from her fifth album, '' Loud'' (2010). Serving as the album's lead single, it was released on September 10, 2010. Harlem Shake (dance)
The Harlem Shake is a jerky arm and shoulder movement just in time to the music. The dance was created by Harlem resident Al B. (Albert Boyce) in 1981; the dance was initially called "The Albee" or "The Al. B.". As indicated by the name, it is associated with the predominantly African-American neighborhood of Harlem, in New York City. The dance became known as the Harlem Shake as its prominence grew beyond the neighborhood. In 2001 G. Dep's music video for the song "Let's Get It" introduced the dance to the mainstream. Stokesley School
Stokesley School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Stokesley, North Yorkshire, England. Great North Run
The Great North Run (branded the Simplyhealth Great North Run for sponsorship purposes) is the largest half marathon in the world, taking place annually in North East England each September. Participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields. The run was devised by former Olympic 10,000 m bronze medallist and BBC Sport commentator Brendan Foster. The first Great North Run was staged on 28 June 1981, when 12,000 runners participated. By 2011, the number of participants had risen to 54,000. For the first year it was advertised as a local fun run; nearly thirty years on it has become one of the biggest running events in the world, and the biggest in the UK. The London Marathon is an annual marathon held in London, United Kingdom, and is the 2nd largest annual road race in the UK, after the Great North Run in Newcastle. Founded by athletes Chris Brasher and John Disley in 1981, it is typically held in April but has moved to October for 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Middlesbrough ( ) is a town on the southern bank of the River Tees in North Yorkshire, England. It is near the North York Moors national park. ''Show Me the Funny'' is a British reality show in which a group of ten comedians of varying experience visit ten different cities around the UK, performing tasks that are somehow meant to equip them with local knowledge to work into five-minute-long new live routines, which they then showcase in front of a live audience. At the end of each show, one contestant was voted off by the judging panel of Alan Davies, Kate Copstick and a different guest judge in each city, with a live final at the Hammersmith Apollo on 25 August 2011. The eventual winner of the competition won a nationwide tour (with support from two of the runners-up) and their own DVD released in the run-up to Christmas.
