William Monahan
William J. Monahan (born November 3, 1960) is an American screenwriter and novelist. His second produced screenplay was ''The Departed'', a film that earned him a Writers Guild of America Award and Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. Writer and editor Monahan was born in Dorchester, Boston. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he studied English literature#Elizabethan era, Elizabethan and English literature#Jacobean literature, Jacobean drama. He moved to New York City and contributed to the alternative weekly newspaper ''New York Press'' and the magazines Talk (magazine), ''Talk'', Maxim (magazine), ''Maxim'', and Spy (magazine), ''Spy''. Sir Kingsley William Amis (16 April 1922 – 22 October 1995) was an English novelist, poet, critic, and teacher. He wrote more than 20 novels, six volumes of poetry, a memoir, short stories, radio and television scripts, and works of social and literary criticism. ''Infernal Affairs'' is a 2002 Hong Kong action thriller film co-directed by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak.
