Moldova participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "A Century of Love" written by Oleg Baraliuc and Victoria Demici. The song was performed by Geta Burlacu. The Moldovan broadcaster TeleRadio-Moldova (TRM) organised the national final ''O melodie pentru Europa 2008'' in order to select the Moldovan entry for the 2008 contest in Belgrade, Serbia. 27 entries competed to represent Moldova in Belgrade, with 12 being shortlisted to participate in the televised national final which took place on 9 February 2008. "A Century of Love" performed by Geta Burlacu emerged as the winner after gaining the most points following the combination of votes from a jury panel, a TRM committee and a public televote. Moldova was drawn to compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 20 May 2008. Geta Burlacu
Geta Burlacu (, born Georgeta Povorozniuc on 22 July 1974) is a Moldovan singer. She represented Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "A Century of Love” written by Vica Demici and Oleg Baraliuc. Career Burlacu began singing at age of seven. She studied violin at the music school in Bălți and graduated from the College of Music in Balti as a violinist. In 1993 she went to the Academy of Music in Chisinau to study jazz and folk music. After graduation in 1997, Burlacu stepped on the professional scene. She has performed in Germany, France, Ireland, Romania, Ukraine, Belarus, and China. She has won numerous awards at national and international festivals in jazz, pop, and folk. From 1998 until 2011, Burlacu worked as a singer in the vocal jazz band Univox. Olia Tira
Olia Tira (born Olga Tsyra) ( ro, Olga Țîra) on 1 August 1988), also known by her stage name FLUX LIGHT, is a German-born Moldovan singer. Early life Tira was born in 1988 into a Soviet military family in Potsdam, East Germany. She spent a few years there and moved to Chișinău. She first appeared in festivals and concerts when she was 14 years old. Tira attended school in Cahul and is currently a student in the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chișinău. Natalia Gordienko ( uk, Наталія Гордієнко, also spelled Gordienco; born 11 December 1987) is a Moldovan singer and dancer. Alongside Arsenium and Connect-R, she represented Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song " Loca" and placed 20th.
