Moacyr Jos̩ Vitti (November 30, 1940 РJune 26, 2014) was a Catholic archbishop. Ordained to the priesthood in 1967, Vitti was named titular bishop of ''Sita'' and auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Curitiba, Brazil in 1988. A titular bishop in various churches is a bishop who is not in charge of a diocese. By definition, a bishop is an "overseer" of a community of the faithful, so when a priest is ordained a bishop, the tradition of the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox churches is that he be ordained for a specific place. There are more bishops than there are functioning dioceses.
