MoCA Taipei
The Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei (MoCA Taipei; ) is a museum of contemporary art, located in Datong District, Taipei, Taiwan. History The museum building was built during the Japanese rule in 1921 for what later became Jiànchéng Elementary School, which now occupies a new structure on the back of the historical building. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China, it hosted the Taipei City Government and became an important landmark, thanks to its highly recognizable symmetrical building and belltower in historic style. After the city government had moved to the new location in Xinyi district, it was designated as a historical building, and re-opened on 27 May 2001 as Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei (MOCA Taipei), as the first museum in Taiwan to be dedicated exclusively to contemporary art. Datong District, Taipei
Datong District or Tatung is a district of Taipei City, Taiwan. It is located between the Taipei Metro Red Line and eastern shore of the Tamsui River, and between Civic Boulevard and the Sun Yat-sen Freeway. The southern part of this area used to be the site of Twatutia, one of the first settlements in what is now Taipei and for a time the area's commercial center. Taipei's commercial center has since shifted south east to Zhongzheng, Da'an and Xinyi, and Datong is far less important economically. One of the last vestiges of Twatutia's commercial importance disappeared with the closing of the Chien-Cheng Circle in 2006. The north was the site of the village of Daronpon. Taipei Metro
Taipei Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), branded as Metro Taipei, is a rapid transit system serving the areas of Taipei and New Taipei City, New Taipei in Taiwan, operated by the State-owned enterprise, government-owned Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, which also operates the Maokong Gondola. Taipei Metro was the first metro system ever built in Taiwan. The initial network was approved for construction in 1986 and work began two years later. It began operations on March 28, 1996, and by 2000, 62 stations were in service across three main lines. Over the next nine years, the number of passengers had increased by 70%. Zhongshan (, formerly transliterated as Chungshan Station until 2003) is a metro station in Taipei, Taiwan served by Taipei Metro. It is a transfer station between the Tamsui–Xinyi and s. The station opened on 28 March 1997 for traffic on the Tamsui-Xinyi line, and Songshan-Xindian line services opened on 15 November 2014. It is located in the middle of the underground Zhongshan Metro Mall and near the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store. The Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai (MoCA Shanghai; ) is a contemporary art museum in the city of Shanghai, China. It is located within People's Park, north of People's Square, the location of a former racecourse that now holds the central administrative building and museums of Shanghai. Yang Maolin
Yang Maolin () is a noted contemporary Taiwanese artist. Born in 1953 in Changhua, Taiwan, Yang studied painting at the Chinese Culture University in Taipei. He co-founded several artists groups linked to the Transavantgarde movement in Taiwan: 101 and the Taipei Group in the 1980s, and Hantooshe in the late 1990s. He is chiefly known for his politically charged paintings of the 1980s, and his decade-long investigation into the political, the historical and cultural aspects of Taiwanese identity during the 1990s.
