Mittelhessen-Express
The Mittelhessen-Express is a train service operated by DB Regio AG in the German state of Hesse on the Main-Weser Railway and the Dill Railway, which was put into operation at the commencement of the 2007 timetable on 10 December 2006. After a re-tender of operations for twelve years, operations of the services from 11 December 2011 were taken over by the DB Regio Hessen GmbH, a newly formed wholly owned subsidiary of DB Regio. The operation of Bombardier Talent 2 electric multiple units were intended to be used from the beginning of the contract, but were delayed by problems in obtaining certification for their operation from the Federal Railway Authority as on other routes. Route The Mittelhessen-Express runs on the Treysa–Giessen–Frankfurt (RB41) and Dillenburg–Giessen–Frankfurt (RB 40) routes. Treysa Station
Treysa station (german: Bahnhof Treysa) is a train station in Schwalmstadt, Hesse, on the Main–Weser Railway. It was formerly a railway junction, connecting to the Leinefelde–Treysa section of the Cannons Railway (german: Kanonenbahn). The station is frequented by 2,500 passengers daily. The station is classified by Deutsche Bahn (DB) as a category 4 station. History A small railway station was built in Treysa during the construction of the Main–Weser Railway (Kassel–Frankfurt am Main) in 1850. It was located about one kilometre northeast of the present station. It was built as a neoclassical brick building in 1847/48 according to the plans of the Kassel architect Julius Eugen Ruhl. Bad Nauheim Station
Bad Nauheim station is a station in the town of Bad Nauheim in the German state of Hesse on the Main–Weser Railway. The station is classified by Deutsche Bahn (DB) as a category 4 station. History The station went into operation with the opening of the section between Butzbach and Friedberg on 9 November 1850. The original buildings were designed by Julius Eugen Ruhl,Eisenbahn in Hessen, p. 184. but they were replaced by new buildings between 1911 and 1913. As part of a general renovation in preparation for the state horticultural show held in 2010 in Bad Nauheim, the platform heights were increased to 76 cm to provide barrier-free access for the disabled, tactile paving was installed for the visually impaired and the station was given a friendlier appearance overall. Friedberg Station
Friedberg (Hess) station is the station of Friedberg, Germany, on the Main-Weser Railway. History First station The first Friedberg station was opened on 10 May 1850 with the opening of the section of the Main-Weser Railway from Frankfurt am Main to Friedberg. On 9 November 1850 the next section to Butzbach was opened. The entire route of the Main-Weser line from Kassel to Frankfurt was opened for traffic 15 May 1852. Butzbach Station
Butzbach station is a station in the town of Butzbach in the German state of Hesse on the Main–Weser Railway. The station was formerly the starting point of the Butzbach–Lich railway leading to Lich and Grünberg.The station is classified by Deutsche Bahn (DB) as a category 4 station. Bombardier Talent 2
The Talent 2 is a multiple unit railcar manufactured by Bombardier Transportation. The train began production in 2008 and first entered service with Deutsche Bahn in 2011. Despite having the same name as the original Talent, designed by Waggonfabrik Talbot and later acquired by Bombardier, for the most part it does not share technical details with that train, except for the rounded sides and doorways. Dill Railway
The Dill Railway (German: ''Dillstrecke'') is a 73 km-long double-track rail electrification, electrified railway line, which runs from Giessen in Hesse to Siegen in North Rhine-Westphalia. Until 2002 InterRegio trains operated the connection to Düsseldorf, Norden, Lower Saxony, Norddeich, and Münster. Nowadays the line is only worked by regional trains, including diesel multiples of the DreiLänderBahn, but there is one exception. The EuroCity Line 112/113 from Siegen to Klagenfurt via Frankfurt, Stuttgart, München and Salzburg with a destination coach to Zagreb. This train starts every day from Siegen in the morning at 6:17 pm, the train from Klagenfurt arrives at 9:57 am at Siegen. Siegen Station
Siegen Hauptbahnhof is the main station of the town of Siegen, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is in close to the modern centre of Siegen, which includes the bus station and the Sieg Carré and City Galerie shopping centres. History The station was opened on 10 January 1861 simultaneously with the opening of the branch line from Siegen to Betzdorf, Germany, Betzdorf, now part of the Sieg Railway. The Altena–Siegen section of the Ruhr–Sieg railway, Ruhr–Sieg line was opened in August 1861. Jews were deported from Siegen station from 1942 to 1944. This is recalled on a plaque on track 3. RegioTram Kassel
The Kassel RegioTram is a tram-train light rail system in Kassel, Hesse, Germany. Kassel's tram-train system follows the Karlsruhe model, and has been in full operation since 2007. With special RegioTram tramcars, continuous trips between the Deutsche Bahn heavy rail network and Kassel's city tram network are easily possible, thus avoiding transfers requiring long walking distances between trains of the regional rail system and trams of the Kassel city system. The operator of the RegioTram network was, until December 2013, RegioTram mbH, a joint venture between Regionalbahn Kassel (RBK), a subsidiary of the Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (KVG), and DB Regio.
