This is a list of state parks and state historic sites in Missouri. In the U.S. state of Missouri both state parks and state historic sites are administered by the Division of State Parks of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. As of 2017 the division manages a total of 92 parks and historic sites plus the Roger Pryor Pioneer Backcountry, which together total more than . Missouri is a U.S. state, state in the Midwestern United States, Midwestern region of the United States. McDonald County, Missouri
McDonald County is a county located in the southwestern corner of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 23,083. Its county seat is Pineville. The county was organized in 1849 and named for Sergeant Alexander McDonald, a soldier in the American Revolutionary War. The county has three sites on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Old McDonald County Courthouse and the Powell Bridge. Big Oak Tree State Park
Big Oak Tree State Park is a state-owned nature preserve with recreational features encompassing in East Prairie, Missouri, United States. Holt County is a county located in the northwestern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 4,223. It's county seat is Oregon. The county was organized February 15, 1841. Originally named Nodaway County, it was soon renamed for David Rice Holt (1803–1840), a Missouri state legislator from Platte County. History ''The History of Holt County, Missouri from the Time of the Platte Purchase through 1916'' and ''The History of Holt and Atchison Counties, Missouri'' (published 1882) are available online. In 1972, the Holt County Historical Society was established. Holt County was impacted by the 2019 Midwestern U.S. floods. Bennett Spring State Park
Bennett Spring State Park is a public recreation area located in Bennett Springs, Missouri, west of Lebanon on Highway 64 in Dallas and Laclede counties. It is centered on the spring that flows into the Niangua River and gives the park its name. The spring averages 100 million gallons (380,000 m3) of daily flow. The park offers fly fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking, and other activities. History In 1837, the James Brice family built a mill at the stream and the spring became known as Brice Spring. The town that built up was known as Brice. The family of Peter Bennett soon settled near the spring and started their own mill. Originally, the families were rivals, but they soon intermarried. Both of these mills were eventually destroyed in a flood. During the Civil War years, another mill was constructed by Peter Bennett.
